  1. 1. Synthesis and characterisation of thermoset-layered silicate nanocomposites

    Author : Xavier Kornmann; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymera konstruktionsmaterial; Polymeric Composite Materials;

    Abstract : Thermoset-layered silicate nanocomposites are materials reinforced on a molecular scale by 1 nm-thick silicate layers of high aspect ratio dispersed in a thermoset matrix. These new materials were synthesised from unsaturated polyester and several epoxy resins (DGEBA/diamines and TGDDM/DDS) using two different approaches. READ MORE

  2. 2. Multi-Functional Composite Design Concepts for Rail Vehicle Car Bodies

    Author : David Wennberg; Sebastian Stichel; Per Wennhage; Thilo Bein; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Car body; Composite; Finite element; Lightweight; Multi-discipline; Multi-functional; Optimisation; Rail Vehicles; Sandwich Panels;

    Abstract : Structures and material combinations, tailored for multiple purposes, are within the reach of vehicle manufacturers. Besides reducing the environmental impact of the transportation sector these multi-functional structures can reduce costs, such as development, manufacturing and maintenance, and at the same time offer improved comfort to the passengers. 3. 3. Wood hydrolysate Barriers

    Author : Anas Ibn Yaich; Ulrica Edlund; Ann-Christine Albertsson; Margaretha. Söderqvist-Lindblad; Inger Odnevall-Wallinder; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wood hydrolysate; xylan; hemicellulose; layered silicates; oxygen barrier; packaging; film; coaing; birch.;

    Abstract : Wood hemicellulose is an abundant but fairly unexploited renewable feedstock. Recent studies have shown that hemicelluloses have a large potential for use in the food packaging industry as a sustainable alternative to the conventional oxygen-barrier materials used today. READ MORE

  4. 4. Charge transport in polymer-based insulating materials for high voltage applications: effect of single- and multi-layered structures

    Author : Tuan Anh Hoang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; charge trapping and de-trapping; polyethylene; surface potential decay; enamel insulation; charge transport; charging current; charge injection; charge mobility; DC conductivity; nanocomposite;

    Abstract : Polymer composites have been widely employed as electrical insulating materials for high voltage components and devices such as power cables, gas-insulated systems, rotating machines, line and post insulators, etc. Such materials are usually made by introducing inorganic oxides (SiO2, TiO2, Al2O3, MgO) into polymeric matrices e.g. READ MORE

  5. 5. Electrochemical water splitting based on metal oxide composite nanostructures

    Author : Aneela Tahira; Omer Nur; Magnus Willander; Rasit Turan; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Composite metal oxides; hydrothermal method; water splitting; Tafel slope; stability; durability; alkaline media; acidic media;

    Abstract : The occurrence of available energy reservoirs is decreasing steeply, therefore we are looking for an alternative and sustainable renewable energy resources. Among them, hydrogen is considered as green fuel with a high density of energy. READ MORE
