    Author : Mats Leandersson; Lunds universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HTSC; photoelectron spectroscopy; angle resolved photoemission; magnetoresistance; superconductivity; magnetic resonance; relaxation; spectroscopy; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:elektronstruktur; magnetiska och optiska ; egenskaper elektriska; supraledare; magnetisk resonans; Physics; spektroskopi; resonant photoemission; Condensed matter:electronic structure; CMR; electrical; supraconductors; magnetic and optical properties; Fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2000; Leandersson;

    Abstract : Abstract In this thesis, the high temperature superconductors (HTSC) La2CuO4+x and Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+d and the colossal magnetoresistive (CMR) La1-xSrxMnO3 have been studied by photoelectron spectroscopy. Techniques such as angular resolved photoemission (ARPES), resonant photoemission spectroscopy (RESPES) and x-ray absorption spectroscopy have been applied, using synchrotron radiation. READ MORE

  2. 2. Ovarian cancer. Biomarkers, surgical outcome and survival

    Author : Pia Leandersson; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; epitelial äggstokscancer; biomarkörer; kirurgi; incidens; överlevnad; epithelial ovarian cancer; biomarkers; ovarian cancer surgery; incidence; survival;

    Abstract : Ovarian cancer is the eighth most common female cancer worldwide and the most lethal of the gynaecologic malignancies. Around 700 women are diagnosed in Sweden per year. Due to vague symptoms most of the patients are diagnosed with late-stage epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) and prognosis is poor, with a five-year survival of 49%. READ MORE

  3. 3. Early events in T cell development

    Author : Karin Leandersson; Malmö Cancerimmunologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; pTalpha; gammadelta T cell; alphabeta T cell; development; thymus; thymocyte; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Abstract : T cells constitute a heterogenous population of lymphocytes. Their unifying property is that they express surface bound antigen-receptors, called T cell receptors (TCRs). The TCR is a heterodimer composed of either TCRalpha and beta chain proteins (alphabeta TCR) or gamma and delta chain proteins (gammadelta TCR). READ MORE

  4. 4. The central role of the CD4 T-helper cell in HIV infection : analysis of cell mediated responses and CCR-5 genotypes in HIV-1 infected individuals

    Author : Ann-Charlotte Leandersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection is characterized by progressive immunologic dysregulation. The main target of HIV is the CD4 cell resulting in malfunction of the immune system, with a decline in CD4 cells and subsequent development of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). 5. 5. Mineral fibers, cigarette smoke, and oxidative DNA damage : An experimental study

    Author : Per Leandersson; Östergötlands Läns Landsting; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : This study concerns the ability of mineral fibers and cigarette smoke to generate reactive oxygen metabolites and to cause damage to DNA. The generation of hydroxyl radicals (OH") was demonstrated by using the DNA base, deoxyguanosine (dG) as a trapping agent for OH" and determining its hydroxylation to 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (80HdG), and oxidative DNA damage was assessed as formation of 80HdG in isolated DNA or in DNA of human lung cells in culture.
