6. Oxygen-reducing enzymes in coatings and films for active packaging
Abstract : Oxygen scavengers are used in active packages to protect the food against deteriorative oxidation processes. The aim of this work was to investigate the possibilities to produce oxygen-scavenging packaging materials based on oxygen-reducing enzymes. READ MORE

7. Activation of dissolving pulps prior to viscose preparation
Abstract : The conventional viscose manufacturing process is a mature process that needs to be improved with respect to its environmental impact and its production cost structure. Therefore a research study has been done with the aim to improve the reactivity of the dissolving pulp used, in order to reduce the chemical demand in the viscose process and thus reduce the cost and indirectly the environmental impact. 9. Industrial applications and properties of oxalate-degrading enzymes
Abstract : Oxalate-degrading enzymes were investigated with focus on potential applications in the pulp and paper industry and in active packaging. Changes introduced to make the pulp and paper industry more environmentally friendly, such as recirculation of process-water streams and elementary chlorine free bleaching of pulp, have led to increasing problems with precipitation of calcium oxalate.
