  3. 3. Long-term effects of pre- and postnatal glucocorticoid treatment in congenital adrenal hyperplasia

    Author : Leif Karlsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is an autosomal recessive disorder mostly caused by mutations in the CYP21A2 gene leading to impaired production of cortisol and aldosterone. Precursors in the steroidogenic pathway are shunted to pathways of androgen production and elevated levels of androgens may cause virilization of the external genitalia in females with CAH already in utero. 4. 4. An interactive decision support system using simulation-based optimization and knowledge extraction

    Author : Ingemar Karlsson; Amos Ng; Anna Syberfeldt; Sunith Bandaru; Leif Pehrsson; Anders Skoogh; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Production and Automation Engineering; Produktion och automatiseringsteknik;

    Abstract : The use of simulation to improve existing manufacturing systems is not new, but simulation can also be used increase the understanding of production systems that have not yet been built. The power of simulation models can be further enhanced by using simulation-based optimization, in which an optimization algorithm tries to find optimal solutions, given certain objectives. READ MORE

  5. 5. Biomarkers in non-small cell lung carcinoma : methodological aspects and influence of gender, histology and smoking habits on estrogen receptor and epidermal growth factor family receptor signalling

    Author : Christina Karlsson; Karin Piehl-Aulin; Ulf Tidefelt; Gisela Helenius; Leif Johansson; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Non-small cell lung carcinoma; estrogen receptor; epidermal growth factor receptor; HER-4; tissue microarray; immunohistochemistry; smoking habits; in situ hybridisation; Onkologi; Oncology;

    Abstract : Non-small cell lung carcinoma is a leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide. There are gender and smoking associated differences both in tumour types and clinical outcome. Squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) are more frequent among smoking men while females develop adenocarcinomas (ADCA). READ MORE
