  1. 1. Processing of the Phonocardiographic Signal : methods for the intelligent stethoscope

    Author : Christer Ahlström; Per Ask; Leif Sörnmo; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bioacoustics; phonocardiographic; signal processing; heart sound; lung sound; nonlinear dynamics; Medical technology; Medicinsk teknik;

    Abstract : Phonocardiographic signals contain bioacoustic information reflecting the operation of the heart. Normally there are two heart sounds, and additional sounds indicate disease. If a third heart sound is present it could be a sign of heart failure whereas a murmur indicates defective valves or an orifice in the septal wall. READ MORE

  2. 2. Spatio-temporal processing of surface electromyographic signals : information on neuromuscular function and control

    Author : Christer Grönlund; Leif Sörnmo; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EMG; multichannel surface electromyography; motor unit action potentials; conduction velocity; muscle architecture; signal quality; spatial distributions; synchronization; muscle function; motor control; biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap; Biomedical Radiation Science;

    Abstract : During muscle contraction, electrical signals are generated by the muscle cells. The analysis of those signals is called electromyography (EMG). The EMG signal is mainly determined by physiological factors including so called central factors (central nervous system origin) and peripheral factors (muscle tissue origin). READ MORE

  3. 3. Adaptive signal processing of surface electromyogram signals

    Author : Nils Östlund; Stefan Karlsson; Jun Yu; Björn Gerdle; Leif Sörnmo; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : Signalbehandling; electromyography; signal processing; Signalbehandling; biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap; Biomedical Radiation Science;

    Abstract : Electromyography is the study of muscle function through the electrical signals from the muscles. In surface electromyography the electrical signal is detected on the skin. The signal arises from ion exchanges across the muscle fibres’ membranes. READ MORE
