  1. 6. Analytical methods for biomolecules involved in atmospheric aerosol formation in the Arctic

    Author : Farshid Mashayekhy Rad; Ulrika Nilsson; Caroline Leck; Leopold Ilag; Peter Haglund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : In the Arctic, increasing ice-free conditions and nutrients freed from the melting ice must strongly influence the marine life. Aerosol emissions from microbiological marine processes may affect the low clouds and fogs over the summer Arctic, which in turn have effects on the melting of sea ice. READ MORE

  2. 7. Sample preconcentration in open microchannels : Combinations with MALDI and nano-ESI mass spectrometry and computer simulations

    Author : Saara Mikkonen; Åsa Emmer; Leopold Ilag; Jenny Ottosson Takanen; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Preconcentration; open microchannel; microchip; MALDI; electrospray ionization; nanoelectrospray; mass spectrometry; computer simulation;

    Abstract : In this thesis a novel concept for preconcentration of biomolecules in open microchannels is presented. The preconcentration is based on electromigration of charged analytes, and detection is performed with matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) or nano-electrospray ionization (nESI) mass spectrometry (MS). 3. 8. Development and application of alternative methods for profiling proteins N-glycosylation

    Author : Alessandro Quaranta; Leopold Ilag; Niclas Karlsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; N-glycosylation; Glycomics; Glycosylation Biomarkers; Intact Glycoproteins; Glycoform Quantification; Mass Spectrometry; Ion Mobility Spectrometry; MALDI-MS; Paper Spray Ionization; Microfluidics; Magnetic Beads; Immunoaffinity Purification; Nanobodies; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Glycosylation is a post-translational modification (PTM) that exerts profound structural and functional effects on the modified protein. Glycan synthesis and conjugation to proteins are regulated by a myriad of factors, both genetic and environmental, and are also influenced by external stressors. READ MORE

  4. 9. New Materials and Improved Ambient Techniques in Mass Spectrometry

    Author : Nicolò Riboni; Leopold Ilag; Elisa Robotti; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mass Spectrometry; Solid Phase Microextraction; Ambient Mass Spectrometry; Desorption Electrospray Ionization; Paper Spray Ionization; Cavitands; BTEX; New Psychoactive Substances; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Mass spectrometry (MS) is used in several fields, e.g. biology, environmental monitoring, medicine and forensics due to excellent qualitative and quantitative capabilities. The development of new instrumental setups and ionization sources is crucial to analyze a variety of compounds at trace levels. READ MORE

  5. 10. Novel clean-up, concentration and laser desorption/ionization strategies for mass spectrometry

    Author : Mohammadreza Shariatgorji; Leopold Ilag; Juan Astorga-wells; Bernhard Spengler; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mass spectrometry; ESI-MS; SALDI-MS; Electrocapture; Sample treatment; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Despite valuable advantages of mass spectrometry (MS) techniques they still have drawbacks that need to be overcome, notably their sensitivity to various kinds of interfering substances and associated difficulties involved in detecting signals from analytes present in trace quantities. Thus, high quality analytical data could be acquired by improving sample pre-treatment techniques and/or ionization methods to increase ionization yields and/or avoid the generation of unwanted ions.
