  1. 21. Functional Screens Identify Vulnerabilities in Acute Leukemia

    Author : Ramprasad Ramakrishnan; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute leukemia; CRISPR; CXCR4; CXCL12; TNFSF13; DUX4; Interleukin 4; leukemia stem cell; macrophage;

    Abstract : Acute leukemia refers to a group of aggressive hematological malignancies of myeloid and lymphoid lineages termed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and acute lymphoid leukemia (ALL) respectively. Acute leukemia is characterized by the presence of underlying genetic aberrations which alter the biology of normal hematopoietic cells resulting in the accumulation of immature abnormally differentiated blast cells. 2. 22. Pathways that govern hematopoietic stem cell fate

    Author : Matilda Billing; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Keywords : hematopoies; Hematopoietic stem cell; TGF beta; Smad signaling; GATA2; p57;

    Abstract : Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) compose a rare population of undifferentiated cells, residing in the bone marrow of adult individuals, ensuring life-long maintenance and replenishment of the blood system. This fantastic achievement is possible owing to two special characteristics of the HSCs: their ability to make copies of themselves (self-renew), and their capacity to differentiate to all lineages of the blood system. 3. 23. Alloreactivity in stem cell transplantation

    Author : Anna Nordlander; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), relapse and graft rejection are the main complications after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). The aim of this thesis was to achieve a better understanding of the alloreactivity seen after HSCT, focusing on graft rejection, but also including the graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) effect and GVHD. 4. 24. Regulation of normal and cancer cells as a base for cell cycle-targeted therapy

    Author : Regina Miftakhova; Malmö Experimentell cancerforskning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell cycle regulation; cyclin A1; stem cells; stem cell niche; epigenetics; cancer;

    Abstract : The majority of current treatments used for treatment of prostate cancer (PCa) and leukemia are often limited to a narrow subsets of treated patients. As such, there still remains a significant scope for gaining deeper understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying cancer metastasis for improvement of targeted treatment. READ MORE

  5. 25. Response mechanisms of normal hematopoietic cells and leukemic cells to genotoxic agents and novel therapeutic strategies

    Author : Andreas Hedblom; Malmö Experimentell cancerforskning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hematopoietic stem cells; genotoxic damage; cell cycle; leukemia; heme oxygenase; differentiation;

    Abstract : Hematopoiesis is initiated by a rare population of hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) in the bone marrow (BM). HSCs give rise to red blood cells and white blood cells of myeloid and lymphoid lineages. READ MORE
