7. Hybrid materials for lithium-ion batteries
Abstract : The Lithium‐ion batteries are the most important power source for electronic devices as electronics, storage and the different electric vehicles. The research and development of new materials for different applications has increased, especially in the development of materials with better electrochemical properties (Specific capacity, rate capability, high energy density and cyclability). 8. The Challenge of Probing Lithium Insertion Mechanisms in Cathode Materials
Abstract : The Li-ion battery has, from its commercialisation in the early 1990's, now become the most widely used power source for portable low-power electronics: laptops, cellular phones and MP3-players are a few examples. To further develop existing and find new electrode materials for these batteries, it is vital to understand the lithium insertion/extraction mechanisms taking place during battery operation. 9. Lithium iron phosphates as cathode materials in lithium batteries
Abstract : Iron-based oxides are perhaps the only realistic cathode materials for electric and electric-hybrid vehicle applications. Two types of lithium iron phosphate, LiFePO4 andR-Li3Fe2(PO4)3, have been investigated for use within the lithium/lithium-ion polymer batteryconcept. READ MORE

10. Low-Cost Iron-Based Cathode Materials for Large-Scale Battery Applications
Abstract : There are today clear indications that the Li-ion battery of the type currently used worldwide in mobile-phones and lap-tops is also destined to soon become the battery of choice in more energy-demanding concepts such as electric and electric hybrid vehicles (EVs and EHVs). Since the currently used cathode materials (typically of the Li(Ni,Co)O2-type) are too expensive in large-scale applications, these new batteries will have to exploit some much cheaper transition-metal.
