  1. 1. Vibrations in Lightweight Buildings - Perception and Prediction

    University dissertation from Lund University. Department of construction science

    Author : Juan Negreira; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2013]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Psycho-vibratory evaluation; Vibrations; Timber floors; Lightweight; Measurements; Serviceability criteria; Vibration annoyance; Vibration acceptability; Elastomer; Finite element method; Prediction Tools.;

    Abstract : When the Swedish construction code (in 1994) allowed wooden multi-storey buildings to be built, this type of lightweight construction became popular due to its low cost and ease of construction, and also because wood is a plentiful resource in Sweden. Drawbacks in such buildings are disturbing vibrations and noise propagating in the construction, especially through junctions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Acoustic excitation and transmission of lightweight structures

    University dissertation from Div. Engineering Acoustics, LTH

    Author : Jonas Brunskog; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2002]

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish För att öka förståelsen för hur ljud sprider sig och strålar från byggnadskonstruktioner utförda i lättbyggnadsteknik så behövs teoretiska beräkningsmodeller. Sådana modeller presenteras i avhandlingen. READ MORE

  3. 3. Subjective assessment of vibrations in lightweight floors

    University dissertation from Luleå : Luleå tekniska universitet

    Author : Junye Wang; [2003]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknisk akustik; Engineering Acoustics;

    Abstract : Lightweight steel floors arise a lot of attentions because of its advantages, such as cost effective, recyclable, and having a short construction period. On the other hand, low frequency vibrations induced by normal human activities get more and more complains for these types of structures. READ MORE

    Abstract : In recent years there has been a growing interest for building lightweight multistorey wooden residential buildings in countries like Sweden with large and renewable forests. While positive aspects of these buildings, such as sustainability, ease of construction and lightness, motivate building more in wood, poor acoustic performance is a risk which concerns the wooden-building industry.
