    Abstract : This thesis deals with various aspects of coordinated voltage control in electric power systems. It consists of an introduction and six papers. The introduction contains a summary of the thesis and tutorials on voltage control and the search methods that have been applied. READ MORE

  2. 2. Model-based Analysis and Design of Atomic Layer Deposition Processes

    Author : Anders Holmqvist; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Atomic layer deposition; Heterogeneous reaction kinetics; Limit-cycle dynamics; Parameter estimation; Multi-objective optimization; Dynamic optimization; Scale-up analysis;

    Abstract : Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is a thin-film manufacturing process in which the growth surface is exposed to non-overlapping alternating injections of gas-phase chemical precursor species separated by intermediate purge periods to prevent gas-phase reactions. ALD is characterized by sequential self-terminating heterogeneous reactions between highly reactive gas-phase precursor species and surface-bound species which, when allowed sufficient conditions to reach saturation, results in highly conformal films, on both planar and topographically complex structures. 3. 3. Relay Feedback and Multivariable Control

    Author : Karl Henrik Johansson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; robotics; Automation; Frequency methods; Process control; Sequential control; Automatic tuning; Control education; Laboratory process; Performance limitations; Decentralized control; Multivariable zero; Multivariable systems; Hybrid control; Nonlinear dynamics; Limit cycles; Oscillations; Relay feedback; Sliding modes; control engineering; Automatiska system; robotteknik; reglerteknik;

    Abstract : This doctoral thesis treats three issues in control engineering related to relay feedback and multivariable control systems. Linear systems with relay feedback is the first topic. Such systems are shown to exhibit several interesting behaviors. READ MORE

  4. 4. A study of atmospheric variations on climatic and medium range time scales using bifurcation theory

    Author : Erland Källén; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with atmospheric variability on the long and medium range time scales as described by simplified, low-order models. On the climatic time scale of 0 (103 years) an energy balance and an ice-sheet model are used to investigate some aspects of the climatic record. READ MORE

  5. 5. Stability Properties of Switched Dynamical Systems A Linear Matrix Inequality Approach

    Author : Marcus Rubensson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The dynamical properties of many natural phenomena are traditionally described by smooth differential equation models. The use of automated control structures imposes new behaviors on the controlled system. Actions are often organized in a logical manner. Switched dynamical models are a natural extension to smooth differential equation models. READ MORE
