  1. 1. N-Heterocyclic Carbene Catalysis in Organic Synthesis - A Green Chemistry Approach

    Author : Linda Ta; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aerobic oxidation; ionic liquid; sustainability; NHC catalysis; oxidative NHC catalysis; green chemistry; OTHO; Organocatalysis;

    Abstract : The twelve principles of green chemistry were created as a response to the multiple environmental issues caused by the release of waste from the chemical industry. The principles acts as a guide in the development of sustainable chemical processes for the syntheses of important molecules needed to sustain our living standards. READ MORE

  2. 2. Organocatalytic Transformations with N-Heterocyclic Carbenes - An Investigation of Ionic Liquids as NHC Precatalysts and Aerobic Oxidative Esterifications

    Author : Linda Ta; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; N-heterocyclic carbene; ionic liquid; multi-component reaction; aerobic oxidation; OTHO; Organocatalysis; green chemistry;

    Abstract : The call for more sustainable processes in the chemical society has led to the development of the field of green chemistry. The Twelve Principles of Green Chemistry serve as guidelines for the design of processes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Oxidation of terpenes in indoor environments : A study of influencing factors

    Author : Linda Pommer; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Monoterpene; Ozone O3 ; Nitrogen dioxide NO2 ; Nitrogen oxide NO ; Relative humidity RH ; Modelling; Scrubber; Experimental design; Interaction; Volatile organic compounds VOC ; Sick buildings syndrome SBS ; Principal component analysis PCA ; Indoor air; Ventilation; Tenax TA; Sodium sulphite; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Abstract : In this thesis the oxidation of monoterpenes by O3 and NO2 and factors that influenced the oxidation were studied. In the environment both ozone (O3) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) are present as oxidising gases, which causes sampling artefacts when using Tenax TA as an adsorbent to sample organic compounds in the air. 4. 4. Novel insights into the regulation of insulin secretion by GLP-1, GIP and glucagon

    Author : Linda Ahlkvist; Lund Medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Vagus nerve; GPR119; Insulin resistance; Glucagon; GIP; GLP-1; Insulin;

    Abstract : There are many contributing factors to the development of type 2 diabetes, however, failure of beta-cells to sufficiently secrete insulin is the key component. The underlying mechanism of beta-cell failure is not fully established. In this thesis, we examined the role of high glucagon levels, i.e. READ MORE

  5. 5. The Pulsar and Nebula in SNR 0540-69.3

    Author : Linda Tenhu; Josefin Larsson; Göran Olofsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Atomic; Subatomic and Astrophysics; Atomär fysik; subatomär fysik och astrofysik;

    Abstract : Supernova remnants (SNRs) are the end products of supernova (SN) explosions. These explosions happen when certain massive stars face the ends of their evolutionary cycle and create shock waves propagating in the surrounding medium by ejecting part of the star’s material. An SNR is the region defined by these powerful shocks. READ MORE
