    Abstract : In this work, the photoswitching of molecular systems endowed with photochromic functionality have been investigated for the reversible photonic gating of excitation energy transfer (FRET) reactions as well as in application for all-photonic molecular logic. The presented systems involves the integration of photochromic entities within both covalent and non-covalent designs and serves to implicate photonic switching of molecular level phenomena. 2. 2. Numerical Investigation of Turbulent Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer in Complex Ducts

    Author : Masoud Rokni; Värmeöverföring; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SED; WET; GGDH; RNG; RSM; EASM; Low-Reynolds; Non-linear k-e; Heat transfer; Turbulent; Complex ducts; Secondary flows; Temperature invariance; Energy research; Energiforskning;

    Abstract : Th need for a reliable and reasonable accurate turbulence model without specific convergence problem for calculating duct flows in industrial applications has become more evident. In this study a general computational method has been developed for calculating turbulent quantities in any arbitrary three dimensional duct. READ MORE

  3. 3. Technology Transfer and Technological Capability Building in Informal Firms in Tanzania

    Author : Astrid Szogs; CIRCLE; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; technology transfer; informal firms; technological capability building; Tanzania;

    Abstract : Technology transfer is important to understand how knowledge is transformed to economic value. Applying a case study approach, this thesis investigates the technology transfer efforts from the University of Dar Es Salaam to indigenous informal SMEs in Tanzania and examines the impact of one of their technology transfer mechanisms on the specific technological capabilities that were acquired at the firm level. 4. 4. Computer Simulation of the Neural Control of Locomotion in the Cat

    Author : Nalin Harischandra; Örjan Ekeberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Locomotion; Computer simulation; Central pattern generator; Muscle activation; Linear transfer functions; Sensory feedback; Neural control; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Locomotion is one of the most important behaviours and requires interaction between sensors at various levels of the nervous system and the limb muscles of an animal. The basic neural rhythm for locomotion in mammals has been shown to arise from local neural networks residing in the spinal cord and these networks are known as central pattern generators (CPGs). 5. 5. Computational Analysis of Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow with Relevance for IC-Engine Cooling

    Author : Sassan Etemad; Värmeöverföring; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Termisk teknik; termodynamik; turbulence models; Heat transfer; curved duct; secondary flow; IC-engine cooling; Gases; Thermal engineering; applied thermodynamics; Teknik; Technological sciences; plasma; Gaser; fluiddynamik; plasmas; fluid dynamics;

    Abstract : Modern IC-engines produce more power per displaced volume and operate at higher combustion pressures and temperatures. In addition, engine structure materials such as aluminium and magnesium alloys, which are more sensitive to thermal loads, are more commonly used. READ MORE
