11. Control and Analysis of Pulse-Modulated Systems
Abstract : The thesis consists of an introduction and four appended papers. In the introduction we give an overview of pulse-modulated systems and provide a few examples of such systems. Furthermore, we introduce the so-called dynamic phasor model which is used as a basis for analysis in two of the appended papers. READ MORE

12. Microwave Radiometric Observations of the Middle Atmosphere: Simulations and Inversions
Abstract : Two well-known examples of global environmental problems are the ozone depletion and the enhanced greenhouse effect. The importance and the complexity of these questions generate a demand for improved atmospheric observations, and microwave radiometry is an approach which is increasingly important for measurements of the middle atmosphere (10-100 km). 13. Adaptive time-integration for goal-oriented and coupled problems
Abstract : We consider efficient methods for the partitioned time-integration of multiphysics problems, which commonly exhibit a multiscale behavior, requiring independent time-grids. Examples are fluid structure interaction in e.g., the simulation of blood-flow or cooling of rocket engines, or ocean-atmosphere-vegetation interaction. READ MORE

14. Hydraulic power steering in passenger cars : analysis, modeling and new functionality
Abstract : THIS THESIS COVERS various aspects of hydraulic power assisted steering, HPAS, systems in road vehicles. Power steering is viewed as a dynamic system and is investigated with linear and non-linear modeling techniques. READ MORE

15. Control and estimation of wall bounded flow systems
Abstract : This thesis focuses on the application of linear feedback control and estimation to channel flow. Both the initial stage of the transition and the low Reynolds number turbulent cases are studied. From sensors at the wall, the state of the flow is estimated, using a stochastic description of the flow disturbances. READ MORE
