  1. 1. Linear Transmitter Design Using Nonlinear Analog Circuits

    Author : Bo Shi; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Telecommunication engineering; Elektronik och elektroteknik; Electronics and Electrical technology; BiCMOS.; CMOS; ASIC; Radio-frequency circuits; Translinear circuits; RF power amplifier linearization; Linear transmitter; Nonlinear analog circuits; Telekommunikationsteknik;

    Abstract : This dissertation deals with analog techniques at both the architecture and circuit design levels for designing power efficient linear radio-frequency (RF) transmitters. The use of nonlinear analog integrated circuits to implement certain critical signal processing functions for the multiplicative feedback and LINC techniques is investigated with the aim of improving the system performance in terms of complexity, linearity and power efficiency. 2. 2. CALLUM Linear Transmitter - Architecture and Circuit Analysis

    Author : Roland Strandberg; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Telekommunikationsteknik; Telecommunication engineering; loop time delay; modulation negative feedback; spectral emissions; baseband model; CALLUM; Linear transmitter architecture; power amplifier linearization;

    Abstract : This doctoral dissertation presents a study of linear radio transmitters based on the combined analog locked loop universal modulator (CALLUM) approach. Linear architectures such as CALLUM are very attractive for power-efficient operations, since they have no fundamental limitations prohibiting a 100% efficiency for all envelope levels, without sacrificing the potential of a linear transmission. 3. 3. Behavioral modeling of wireless transmitters for distortion mitigation

    Author : Ali Soltani Tehrani; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nonlinear models; wireless communications.; computational complexity; I Q imbalance; digital predistortion; Volterra series; transmitter; power amplifier; Behavioral modeling;

    Abstract : As the demand for high speed and reliable wireless communication increases, theimportance of having a linear transmitter has enhanced. Distortions created by thetransmitter, such as power amplifier nonlinearity and I/Q imbalance, diminish thefidelity and limit the performance of wireless systems, if left undealt with. READ MORE

  4. 4. Massive Multi-Antenna Communications with Low-Resolution Data Converters

    Author : Sven Jacobsson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing; channel estimation; quantization; linear precoding; convex optimization; nonlinear precoding; linear combing; hardware impairments; analog-to-digital converter; beamforming; Massive multi-user multiple-input multiple-output; digital-to-analog converter;

    Abstract : Massive multi-user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) will be a core technology in future cellular communication systems. In massive MU-MIMO systems, the number of antennas at the base station (BS) is scaled up by several orders of magnitude compared to traditional multi-antenna systems with the goals of enabling large gains in capacity and energy efficiency. 5. 5. Analytical Approaches to Load Modulation Power Amplifier Design

    Author : William Hallberg; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; linear; load modulated balanced amplifier LMBA ; Active load-pull; radio frequency RF ; Wilkinson power divider.; load modulation; energy efficiency; microwave; power amplifier PA ; Doherty;

    Abstract : In future mobile communication networks, there will be a shift toward higher carrier frequencies and highly integrated multiple antenna systems. The system performance will largely depend on the available radio frequency (RF) hardware. As such, RF power amplifiers (PAs) with improved performance, e.g. READ MORE
