  1. 21. Synthetic Transformations via Metal- and Enzyme-Catalyzed Dynamic Kinetic Resolution

    Author : Krisztián Bogár; Jan-Erling Bäckvall; Romas Kazlauskas; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ruthenium; racemization; lipase; dynamic kinetic resolution; secondary alcohol; Candida antarctica lipase B; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry; organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the preparation of a new half-sandwich type ruthenium(II)- catalyst for racemization of optically active secondary alcohols and the development of a highly efficient method in combination with lipases such as Candida antarctica lipase B and Pseudomonas cepacia lipase for dynamic kinetic resolution of various functionalized alcohols under mild reaction conditions.It was shown that the RuCl(CO)2(η5-C5Ph5) complex can racemize optically active aliphatic and aromatic secondary alcohols at room temperature in rather short times. 2. 22. Enthalpy and Entropy in Enzyme Catalysis : A Study of Lipase Enantioselectivity

    Author : Jenny Ottosson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biocatalysis; enzyme catalysis; Candida antarctica lipase B; enantioselectivity; enthalpy; entropy; CALB; enantiomeric ratio; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Abstract : Biocatalysis has become a popular technique in organic synthesis due to high activity and selectivity of enzyme catalyzed reactions. Enantioselectivity is a particularly attractive enzyme property, which is utilized for the production of enantiopure substances. READ MORE

  3. 23. Lipase Specificity and Selectivity : Engineering, Kinetics and Applied Catalysis

    Author : Mohamad Takwa; Karl Hult; Bernhard Hauer; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : The specificity and selectivity of the enzyme Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB) were studiedfor several substrates and applications.With help of molecular modeling, the active site of CALB was redesigned for the ring openingpolymerization of D,D‐lactide. READ MORE

  4. 24. Carboxylic ester hydrolase in acute pancreatitis : a clinical and experimental study

    Author : Per Jonas Blind; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pancreatitis; carboxylic ester hydrolase; bile salt-stimulated lipase; lipase; amylase; endoscopic retrograde choledochopancreatography; Guinea pig;

    Abstract : Diagnosis of acute pancreatitis (AP) is erroneous in up to one third of patients when based on clinical criteria and elevated serum amylase values. Furthermore, according to autopsy reports fatal pancreatitis remains clinically undiagnosed in 22 to 86 % of hospitalised patients. READ MORE

  5. 25. Angiopoietin-like protein 4 : an unfolding chaperone regulating lipoprotein lipase activity

    Author : Valentina Sukonina; Gunilla Olivecrona; Lena Kjellen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lipoprotein lipase; angiopoietin-like protein 4; protein folding; human adipose tissue; macrophages; peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor delta PPARδ ; Medical microbiology; Medicinsk mikrobiologi;

    Abstract : Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is the main enzyme hydrolyzing triglyceride-rich lipoproteins in plasma. Proteoglycan-bound LPL on the vascular endothelium represent the functional pool of active enzyme. LPL is regulated in a tissue specific manner according to metabolic demands. READ MORE
