1. Lipid Composition and Deterioration in Light and Dark Muscle of Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)
Abstract : Nutritionally valuable lipids, including lipid classes and their fatty acids in light and dark muscle, have been determined and analyzed in farmed rainbow trout. Dark muscle was found to have a higher content of total lipids than light muscle, 7.3 wt% versus 3.0 wt%, which was mostly accounted for by neutral lipids, especially triacylglycerols. READ MORE

2. Systems Biology of Yeast Lipid Metabolism
Abstract : Lipid metabolism plays an important role in the development of many different life-style related diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and atherosclerosis, and understanding the molecular mechanisms behind regulation of lipid biosynthesis and degradation may lead to development of new therapies. In this project we undertook a global study of lipid metabolism in the eukaryotic model organism Saccharomyces cerevisiae. READ MORE

3. Development of Methods for Determination of Fat and Trace Constituents in Food, with Emphasis on Supercritical Fluid Extraction
Abstract : Sample preparation is the most time-consuming step in an analysis. Traditional sample preparation techniques consume large amounts of organic solvents, are time-consuming and are difficult to automate. READ MORE

4. Essentially Lipids : Analytical methods for the characterization of lipid materials
Abstract : This thesis describes analytical methods for chromatographic characterizations of lipids in biological and technical systems.Lipids are a group of compounds with a central role in all known forms of life. In addition to the biological roles, lipids are also components in many products of our daily usage. READ MORE

5. NMR metabolomics and lipid analyses in salmonid tissue : response to alternative feeds
Abstract : Salmonids are fatty fish and contain high amounts of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, beneficial in human nutrition. However, the aquaculture industry has expanded greatly in recent decades, increasing demand for fishmeal (FM) and fish oil (FO) for fish feed, while the supply of fish raw materials has remained static or declined.
