  1. 6. Oxidation of fish lipids during gastrointestinal in vitro digestion

    Author : Karin Larsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TBARS; HHE; salmon; lipids; TIM; fish; HNE; in vitro digestion; gastrointestinal; aldehydes; cod liver oil; n-3 PUFA; herring; lipid oxidation; MDA;

    Abstract : Fish and many other marine organisms, contain long chain n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC n-3 PUFA), e.g. eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). EPA and DHA has shown beneficial effects in diseases related to inflammatory processes, such as cardiovascular diseases. READ MORE

  2. 7. Amyloid Fibril Formation - Dye Detection and Effects of Lipids

    Author : David Lindberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atomic force microscopy; fluorescence; Alzheimer’s disease; YOYO-1; amyloid fibrils; lipids; linear dichroism; FRET; circular dichroism; kinetics; Protein aggregation; insulin; thioflavin-T;

    Abstract : Amyloid fibrils are long fibrillar homopolymers of self-assembled proteins. They can be formed by essentially any polypeptide, but are of particular interest because of their occurrence in several incurable and debilitating human diseases, e.g. Alzheimer’s disease (AD). READ MORE

  3. 8. Applications of chemometrics in the analysis and characterization of lipids

    Author : Peter Kaufmann; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lipids; analysis; Lipider;

    Abstract : The main topics of this thesis are the analysis and characterizationof lipids and applications of chemometrics in this field.The techniques of experimental design, polynomial model building,response surface methods, principal components analysis and partialleast squares regression have been explored and utilized in thedeveopment and optimization of analytical methods. 4. 9. Lipid Composition and Deterioration in Light and Dark Muscle of Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

    Author : Torbjörn Ingemansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Docosahexaenoic acid; lipid classes; fatty acids; muscle lipids; Palmitic acid; trout; differences; lipids; fish;

    Abstract : Nutritionally valuable lipids, including lipid classes and their fatty acids in light and dark muscle, have been determined and analyzed in farmed rainbow trout. Dark muscle was found to have a higher content of total lipids than light muscle, 7.3 wt% versus 3.0 wt%, which was mostly accounted for by neutral lipids, especially triacylglycerols. READ MORE

  5. 10. Fractionation of lipids and protein from the microalga Nannochloropsis oculata

    Author : Lillie Cavonius; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; food processing; lipids; pH-shift process; n 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids; solubilization; acid; proteins; Nannochloropsis oculata; alkaline; microalgae; precipitation; in vitro digestion;

    Abstract : To feed Earth’s growing population, microalgae have been proposed as a source of protein and long-chain n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC n-3 PUFAs). Currently, microalgae are mainly sold either as whole biomass, or the economically valuable LC n-3 PUFA fraction is extracted with organic solvents. READ MORE
