  1. 16. Assembly and Secretion of Atherogenic Lipoproteins

    Author : Caroline Beck; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : very low-density lipoprotein; ; apolipoprotein B100; ; B-cell receptor associated; microsomal triglyceride transfer protein; ; secretion; assembly;

    Abstract : The classical dyslipidemia seen in patients with type 2 diabetes is characterized by elevated serum triglycerides (TG), low levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and the appearance of small, dense low-density lipoproteins (LDL). It is now recognized that the different components of diabetic dyslipidemia are not isolated abnormalities but are closely linked to each other metabolically, and are initiated by the hepatic overproduction of large triglyceride-rich very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL1). 2. 17. Retention of atherogenic lipoproteins in atherogenesis

    Author : Maria Gustafsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : apolipoprotein B; atherosclerosis; LDL; LpL; proteoglycans; retention; sPLA2;

    Abstract : Atherosclerosis is the most common cause of death in the industrialized world. The diseaseis characterized by lipid accumulation and inflammation in the arterial wall, which may leadto obstruction of the blood flow. READ MORE

  3. 18. Atherogenic lipoproteins and their interaction with proteoglycans

    Author : Christofer Flood; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : apolipoprotein B; atherosclerosis; LDL; proteoglycan; sPLA2; ; retention;

    Abstract : Atherosclerosis is a multi-factorial disease and its pathogenesis is still unclear. However, accumulating evidence during recent years has led to the concept that subendothelial retention of atherogenic lipoproteins is the initiating event in atherogenesis. READ MORE

  4. 19. Lipoproteins in the postprandial state: Studies on the metabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins using multicompartmental models

    Author : Elias Björnson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lipoprotein metabolism; Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease;

    Abstract : Lipoproteins are lipid-containing spherical particles that circulate in the human blood stream. The reason for their intense study over the decades is their ability to cause atherosclerosis1. READ MORE

  5. 20. The assembly and secretion of ApoB containing lipoproteins

    Author : Pia Stillemark; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Apolipoprotein B; lipoprotein; VLDL; microsomal triglyceride transfer protein; chaperone;

    Abstract : Increased levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood are important risk factors for the development of premature atherosclerosis and its complications such as coronary-heart diseases, stroke and peripheral vascular diseases. These diseases are the major causes of death in Europe, USA and part of Asia. READ MORE
