1. Theoretical Studies of Natural Gas Hydrates and H-bonded Clusters and Crystals
Abstract : In this thesis H-bonded systems (natural gas hydrates, water clusters, and crystal ice) are studied by density functional theory (DFT) computations.Natural gas hydrates (NGHs) play an important role in energy and environmental fields: NGHs are considered as a promising backup energy resource in the near-future due to their tremendous carbon content; improper exploration of NGHs could induce geological disasters and aggravate the greenhouse effect. 2. Thermal and Mechanical Behaviors of High Temperature Coatings
Abstract : With superior oxidation and corrosion resistance, metallic coatings (i.e. diffusion coatings and MCrAlX coatings) are widely used to protect hot components made of superalloys in turbine engines. READ MORE

3. Oxidation and Corrosion of New MCrAlX Coatings : Modelling and Experiments
Abstract : MCrAlY coatings (“M” for Ni and/or Co) are widely used for the protection of superalloy components operated at high temperatures such as in the hot sections of gas turbines. The exposure to high temperature can cause coating degradation due to oxidation or hot corrosion at the coating surface. READ MORE

4. Defects and crystallinity control of perovskite films for light-emitting diodes
Abstract : Metal halide perovskites are promising materials for the fabrication of cost-effective and highperformance light-emitting diodes (LEDs), due to their solution processability, high photoluminescence quantum efficiencies (PLQEs) and excellent charge transport properties. Importantly, perovskite LEDs show ultra-pure emission color, which is better than that of the state-of-the-art quantum dot LEDs (QLEDs) and organic LEDs (OLEDs), demonstrating a bright application potential for realizing vivid natural colors display in the future. 5. A timing approach to network-based anomaly detection for SCADA systems
Abstract : Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems control and monitor critical infrastructure in society, such as electricity transmission and distribution systems. Modern SCADA systems are increasingly adopting open architectures, protocols, and standards and being connected to the Internet to enable remote control. READ MORE
