  1. 1. Palaeoenvironmental changes in the northern boreal zone of Finland: local versus regional drivers

    Author : Shyhrete Shala; Karin H. Helmens; Christian Bigler; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Palaeolimnology; Palaeoecology; Biological assemblages; Sediment geochemistry; Regional drivers; Local drivers; Quantitative temperature reconstructions; Transfer-functions; Holocene; MIS 5d-c; Northern boreal zone; NE Finland; kvartärgeologi; Quaternary Geology;

    Abstract : Multiple proxies derived from the Lake Loitsana sediment sequence (NE Finland) are employed to determine the timing of deglaciation, characterise an early Holocene proglacial lake stage and reconstruct Holocene lake development. Local-scale processes causing shifts in biological assemblages are identified and the most likely Holocene mean July air temperature (Tjul) development is assessed. READ MORE

  2. 2. Effects of vibration on muscles in the neck and upper limbs : with focus on occupational terrain vehicle drivers

    Author : Charlotte Åström; Gunnevi Sundelin; Lage Burström; Stefan Karlsson; Karin Harms-Ringdahl; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Electromyography; drivers; hand-arm vibration; trapezius; whole-body vibration; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi;

    Abstract : Introduction: Occupational drivers of terrain vehicles are exposed to several risk factors associated with musculoskeletal symptoms in the lower back as well as in the neck and upper limbs. Vibration has been suggested to be a main risk factor. These drivers are exposed to both whole-body vibration (WBV) and hand-arm vibration (HAV). READ MORE

  3. 3. Residential solar photovoltaics deployment: barriers and drivers in space

    Author : Alvar Palm; Internationella miljöinstitutet; []
    Keywords : Solar photovoltaics PV ; renewable energy; sustainability transitions; technology deployment; diffusion of innovations; barriers; drivers; space; technological innovation system TIS ; technology adoption; business model; peer effects;

    Abstract : In order to support a sustainability transition in the energy sector, actors need knowledge about barriers and drivers to the deployment of clean energy technologies. Solar photovoltaics (PV) is a renewable energy technology that is technically mature and on the verge of becoming economically competitive in numerous regions around the world. READ MORE

  4. 4. Plant-associated soil communities : Patterns, drivers and aboveground consequences

    Author : Pil Uthaug Rasmussen; Ayco J. M. Tack; Martijn Bezemer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aboveground-belowground interactions; arbuscular mycorrhiza; climate; dispersal; environmental drivers; fungi; genetic variation; nematodes; plant-herbivore interactions; soil communities; spatial patterns; ekologi och evolution; Ecology and Evolution;

    Abstract : Soil contains a wealth of diversity – bacteria, fungi, nematodes, arthropods and earthworms are just some of the many organisms found belowground. These organisms play an important role in shaping the soil environment and they strongly influence plant fitness, diversity and community composition. READ MORE

  5. 5. Changes in the Freshwater System : Distinguishing Climate and Landscape Drivers

    Author : Fernando Jaramillo; Georgia Destouni; Zbigniew W. Kundzewicz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Budyko; evapotranspiration; freshwater; hydrology; hydroclimatic change; landscape change; land use; observation data; runoff; separation; water partitioning; water storage change; water use; worldwide; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Abstract : Freshwater is a vital resource that circulates between the atmosphere, the land and the sea. Understanding and quantifying changes to the partitioning of precipitation into evapotranspiration, runoff and water storage change in the landscape are required for assessing changes to freshwater availability.
