1. Structural and magnetic disorder in crystalline materials : a first principles study
Abstract : Disorder in crystalline materials can take different forms and originate from different sources. In particular, temperature introduces disorder in any kind of material. READ MORE

2. Local structure of perovskite ferroelectric ceramics as revealed by 3D electron diffuse scattering : A walk in between the Bragg peaks
Abstract : Local structural disorder in crystalline materials plays a crucial role in understanding their properties. The means to study structural disorder is diffuse scattering (DS). READ MORE

3. Psychomotor disturbances in bipolar disorder : investigations using structural and functional neuroimaging
Abstract : Psychomotor disturbances in bipolar disorder are an expression of alterations in volition, cognition, emotion and motor control. While psychomotor disturbances remain a classic hallmark of severe mood disorders, there is limited knowledge about its mediators and neural correlates. READ MORE

4. From protein sequence to structural instability and disease
Abstract : A great challenge in bioinformatics is to accurately predict protein structure and function from its amino acid sequence, including annotation of protein domains, identification of protein disordered regions and detecting protein stability changes resulting from amino acid mutations. The combination of bioinformatics, genomics and proteomics becomes essential for the investigation of biological, cellular and molecular aspects of disease, and therefore can greatly contribute to the understanding of protein structures and facilitating drug discovery. 5. Frustrated magnetism in icosahedral structures : The influence of order-disorder in quasicrystals and approximant crystals
Abstract : This work will begin with an introduction to quasicrystals (QCs) and their structure, defining the unit cell-equivalent for icosahedral quasiperiodicity: a 3D tiling based on the golden ratio and aperiodic in all three dimensions. We briefly present the cut-and-project method used to generate QCs from a higher dimension hypercrystal, and how to build the 3D Penrose tilings, composed of the two golden rhombohedra. READ MORE
