  1. 1. Oxidative Dissolution of Spent Fuel and Release of Nuclides from a Copper/Iron Canister : Model Developments and Applications

    Author : Longcheng Liu; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; model; oxidative dissolution; spent fuel; radiolysis; release; mass transport; radionuclide; hydrogen; corrosion; canister; near field; repository; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Three models have been developed and applied in the performance assessment of a final repository. They are based on accepted theories and experimental results for known and possible mechanisms that may dominate in the oxidative dissolution of spent fuel and the release of nuclides from a canister. 2. 2. State Estimation of Lithium-ion Batteries

    Author : Xiaolei Bian; Longcheng Liu; Jinying Yan; Huazhen Fang; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lithium-ion battery; State of charge; State of health; Model-based method; Extended Kalman filter; Filter tuning; Fusion model; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : To guarantee the safety operation, the key states of lithium-ion battery, e.g., the state of charge and the state of health, must be estimated and monitored accurately. This thesis is mainly to develop models and algorithms to accurately and robustly estimate the key battery states, based on the available measurements i. READ MORE

  3. 3. Modeling Solute Transport in Fractured Rocks-Role of Heterogeneity, Stagnant Water Zone and Decay Chain

    Author : Batoul Mahmoudzadeh; Longcheng Liu; Joaquin Martinez; Lanru Jing; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Solute transport model; Fractured rock; Stagnant water zone; Rock matrix diffusion; Radionuclide decay chain; Geological layers; Laplace transform; Simulation;

    Abstract : A model is developed to describe solute transport and retention in fractured rocks. It accounts for the fact that solutes not only can diffuse directly from the flowing channel into the adjacent rock matrix composed of different geological layers but can also at first diffuse into the stagnant water zone occupied in part of the fracture and then from there into the rock matrix adjacent to it. 4. 4. Solute transport through fractured rocks : the influence of geological heterogeneities and stagnant water zones

    Author : Batoul Mahmoudzadeh; Longcheng Liu; Ivars Neretnieks; David Hodgkinson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : To describe reactive solute transport and retardation through fractured rocks, three models are developed in the study with different focuses on the physical processes involved and different simplifications of the basic building block of the heterogeneous rock domain. The first model evaluates the effects of the heterogeneity of the rock matrix and the stagnant water zones in part of the fracture plane. READ MORE

  5. 5. Solute transport in fractured rocks : Analysis of analytical solutions and determination of transport parameters

    Author : Shuo Meng; Longcheng Liu; Ivars Neretnieks; Lanru Jing; Klaus-Peter Kröhn; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fractured rock; Radionuclide transport; Analytical solution; Dispersion mechanisms; Electromigration.; Sprickigt berg; Radionukidtransport; analytisk lösning; Dispersionsmekanismer; Elektromigration.; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : In order to facilitate the assessment of the safety and function of deep geological repositories for radioactive waste, several models have been developed to describe water flow and transport of solutes in fractured crystalline rock. The rock around the repository is described and modelled as a network of water-bearing fractures. READ MORE
