    Abstract : In this dissertation Transformation, as understood in South Africa, is investigated in the ‘Natal Museum’ and the ‘Msunduzi Museum Incorporating the Voortrekker Complex’ in terms of socio-political structures, the museum as a place, its collections and displays. I have emphasised the ethnographical perspective and analysed it by using key concepts such as new museology, time, space and place. READ MORE

  2. 2. 3D Electron crystallography : Real space reconstruction and reciprocal space tomography

    Author : Daliang Zhang; Xiaodong Zou; Douglas L. Dorset; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electron crystallography; Electron microscopy; Porous materials; Chemistry; Kemi; Structural Chemistry; strukturkemi;

    Abstract : Electron crystallography is an important technique for studying micro- and nano-sized materials. It has two important advantages over X-ray crystallography for structural studies: 1) crystals millions of times smaller than those needed for X-ray diffraction can be studied; 2) it is possible to; focus the electrons to form an image. 3. 3. Satellite observations of auroral acceleration processes

    Author : Lars Eliasson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aurora; particle acceleration; space plasma; magnetosphere; ionosphere; polar cap; satellite observations;

    Abstract : Measurements with satellite and sounding rocket borne instruments contain important information on remote and local processes in regions containing matter in the plasma state. The characteristic features of the particle distributions can be used to explain the morphology and dynamics of the different plasma populations. READ MORE

  4. 4. Ion escape from Mars : measurements in the present to understand the past

    Author : Robin Ramstad; Stas Barabash; Yoshifumi Futaana; David Brain; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mars; escape; solar wind; evolution; CME; coupling; plasma; atmosphere; Space Physics; rymdfysik;

    Abstract : Present-day Mars is a cold and dry planet with a thin CO2-dominated atmosphere comprising only a few mbar pressure at low altitudes. However, the Martian surface is marked with valley networks, hydrated mineral clays, carbonates and the remains of deltas and meandering rivers, i.e. READ MORE

  5. 5. Shifting Gears : Automated Driving on the Eve of Autonomous Drive

    Author : Christopher Martin; Avdelningen för etnologi; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; automation; driving; cars; practice; perception; embodiment; flow; space; skill; orientation; routine; technology;

    Abstract : The compelling images and promises attached to autonomous drive vehicles can easily create an impression that one can speak of a radical distinction between a self-driving future and a manual-driving present. Yet today’s drivers can already refer to their everyday driving as being experienced as though on ‘auto-pilot’, in which they are able to drive their cars while lost in things such as daydreams, conversations, or plans for their day ahead.
