  1. 1. An Investigation of Low Temperature Combustion Using high Levels of EGR

    Author : Malin Alriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; low soot; low NOx; low temperature combustion; emissions; diesel combustion;

    Abstract : The diesel engine offers good fuel economy and generates low carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, but it is also a source of undesirably high particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, which are subject to increasingly strict legislative limits because of their adverse effects on the environment and human health. Thus, in recent years, several combustion concepts have been developed to meet future legislation requirements, one of which is Low Temperature Combustion (LTC) using high levels of EGR (Exhaust Gas Recycling). 3. 3. Traffic Emissions of Aerosols

    Author : Matthias Vogt; Douglas Nilsson; Eiko Nemitz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Primary Aerosol Emissions; Carbon Dioxide Emissions; Traffic Aerosol; Urban Aerosol; Traffic Activity; Emission Factors; Eddy Covariance; Aerosol Flux; Atmosphere and hydrosphere sciences; Atmosfärs- och hydrosfärsvetenskap; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Non-exhaust traffic emissions are unregulated, yet the mass emission of non-exhaust particles may be larger than exhaust emissions. In addition, their emission factors (EF) are more uncertain than exhaust emissions. This thesis presents aerosol flux measurements in Stockholm using the eddy covariance method. READ MORE

  4. 4. Low Emission Concepts for Diesel Engines

    Author : Arjan Helmantel; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; post injection; adjustable valve timing; two-colour pyrometry; Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition; emissions; piezo injector; swirl; combustion; Diesel; HCCI; endoscope;

    Abstract : In the recent past, the Diesel engine has been improved considerably in the areas of performance, fuel efficiency and exhaust emissions. In Europe, these improvements have resulted in a strong increase in the sales of passenger cars equipped with a Diesel engine. READ MORE
