  1. 1. Origin of volcanic sulfur in Iceland : a sulfur isotope study

    Author : Peter Torssander; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The chemistry and sulfur isotope composition have been determined in fresh and altered rocks and geothermal fluids in Iceland. Sulfur isotope ratios were analysed in 27 selected volcanic rocks, eight lava incrustations and three volcanic gas samples.The 63% of the basalts ranges from -2.0 o/oo to + 0. READ MORE

    Abstract : This work focuses on the design, synthesis, characterization, and application projections of low-coordinated heavy pnictogen-containing (described by the generic letter E, hence E=C) phosphaalkenes (P=C) and arsaalkenes (As=C), with emphasis on the E=C group motifs. The work aims to understand their functional and modular character, reactivity, and potential applications by stabilizing, isolating, and characterizing these species in low-coordination environments. 3. 3. Coordination of Phosphine-Thioether Ligands to Low-valent Metal Centers

    Author : Roger Persson; Kemisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polynuclear metal complexes; fluxional behavior; cluster; thioether; phosphine; crystal structure; sulfur; triosmium;

    Abstract : The reactivity of the phosphine-thioether ligands bis(2-diphenylphosphino) ethylthio)ethane (PSSP), bis(2-(diphenylphosphino) ethyl)sulfane (PSP), PPh2CH2CH2SMe (PS), PPh2(o-C6H4SMe (PortoS), and PPh(o-C6H4SMe)2 (PSS) towards low-valent carbonyl clusters has been studied. In all structurally characterized clusters, the ligand donor atoms are terminally coordinated. READ MORE

  4. 4. Experimental and Modeling Studies of Sulfur-Based Reactions in Oxy-Fuel Combustion

    Author : Daniel Fleig; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SO3; acid dew-point; coal combustion; oxy-fuel; sulfur; flue gas recycle; corrosion; Carbon capture and storage; H2SO4; SO2;

    Abstract : Oxy-fuel combustion is a technology for CO2 capture that is suitable for large-scale, coal-fired power plants. In this system, the combustion air is replaced by a mixture of O2 and recycled flue gases, so as to enrich for CO2 in the flue gas. READ MORE

  5. 5. Deactivation of SCR catalysts - Impact of sulfur and the use of biofuels

    Author : Johanna Englund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cu-SSZ-13; Cu-CHA; Catalyst deactivation; Activity test; DeNOx; Sulfur; NOx reduction; NH3-SCR; FAME; Emission control; HVO; Vanadia; Biofuel;

    Abstract : In a near future, limits on CO2 emissions from vehicles will be introduced, which requires development of more fuel-efficient engines and most likely a transition towards the use of more biofuels. With the implementation of biofuels several issues could arise, one being the lack of fuel standards for these new type of fuels, leading to higher concentrations of catalyst poisons compared to conventional fossil fuels.
