21. Adaptive Solvers for High-Dimensional PDE Problems on Clusters of Multicore Processors
Abstract : Accurate numerical solution of time-dependent, high-dimensional partial differential equations (PDEs) usually requires efficient numerical techniques and massive-scale parallel computing. In this thesis, we implement and evaluate discretization schemes suited for PDEs of higher dimensionality, focusing on high order of accuracy and low computational cost. READ MORE

22. Evaluation of Students' Attitudes Towards Vocational Education in Jordan
Abstract : This doctoral dissertation consists of the empirical main study and the explorative study. The main goal of the empirical study has been to acquire knowledge about students’ attitudes towards vocational education in Jordan, and to explore the dimensionality of their attitudes as well. 23. Modelling of Quantum Transport in Nanostructures
Abstract : In this thesis, theoretical studies of the transport properties of three nanoscale systems: one-dimensional (1D) quantum wires (QWRs), zero-dimensional (0D), laterally confined, double-barrier resonant tunnelling structures (DBRTSs) and three-terminal ballistic junctions (TBJs), have been performed. In the first part of the thesis, an overview of the realization and properties of such systems is given along with a description of modelling tools used in the calculations. READ MORE

24. Online Learning for Robot Vision
Abstract : In tele-operated robotics applications, the primary information channel from the robot to its human operator is a video stream. For autonomous robotic systems however, a much larger selection of sensors is employed, although the most relevant information for the operation of the robot is still available in a single video stream. 25. Multidimensional Piecewise Regular Arrays
Abstract : Regular arrays, particularly systolic arrays, have been the subject of continuous interest for the past 15 years. One reason is that they present an excellent example of the unity between hardware and software, especially for application-specific computations. READ MORE
