  1. 11. Online Learning for Robot Vision

    Author : Kristoffer Öfjäll; Michael Felsberg; Carl Henrik Ek; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In tele-operated robotics applications, the primary information channel from the robot to its human operator is a video stream. For autonomous robotic systems however, a much larger selection of sensors is employed, although the most relevant information for the operation of the robot is still available in a single video stream. 2. 12. Adaptations for nocturnal vision in insect apposition eyes

    Author : Birgit Greiner; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; temporal and spatial summation; optical and neural adaptations; theoretical modelling.; Djurs anatomi och morfologi; Zoologi; dim light; vision; landmark navigation; nocturnal bees and wasps; Zoology; Animal anatomy; animal morphology;

    Abstract : Due to our own preference for bright light, we tend to forget that many insects are active in very dim light. The reasons for nocturnal activity are most easily seen in tropical areas of the world, where animals face severe competition for food and nocturnal insects are able to forage in a climate of reduced competition and predation. 3. 13. Re-establishing reading skills of elderly low vision patients : studies on Swedish low vision clinic clients

    Author : Örjan Bäckman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : elderly patients; low vision clinic; reading proficiency; cognitive capacity; low vision reading training; low vision rehabilitation; quality of life;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on the project "Reading skills, reading training and technology for the visually handicapped - Prospects for the 1990s," carried out at the Department of Educational Research of the Stockholm Institute of Education 1988-1993. All data were collected in connection with this project. READ MORE

  4. 14. Optimization Methods for 3D Reconstruction : Depth Sensors, Distance Functions and Low-Rank Models

    Author : Erik Bylow; Mathematical Imaging Group; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer Vision; 3D Reconstruction;

    Abstract : This thesis explores methods for estimating 3D models using depth sensors andfinding low-rank approximations of matrices. In the first part we focus on how toestimate the movement of a depth camera and creating a 3D model of the scene. READ MORE

  5. 15. Wavefront Aberrations and Peripheral Vision

    Author : Linda Lundström; Peter Unsbo; Austin Roorda; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Optics; Human eye; Aberrations; Peripheral vision; Central visual field loss; Optics; Optik;

    Abstract : Failing eyesight causes a dramatic change in life. The aim of this project is to help people with large central visual field loss to better utilize their remaining vision. Central visual field loss means that the person has to rely on peripheral vision since the direct vision is lost, often due to a dysfunctional macula. READ MORE
