1. Modern inhalation agents and effects of anaesthesia equipment during low-flow anaesthesia
Abstract : Volatile agents are economically and ecologically acceptable only when administered via low-flow systems. However, sevoflurane degrades during low-flow anaesthesia to compound A, and a high carbon dioxide absorber temperature increases this degradation. READ MORE

2. Hydronic Heating Systems The Effect of Design on System Sensitivity
Abstract : This thesis starts from the recognition that a hydronic heating system can be optimised, but can never be totally perfect. Sooner or later, in practice, deviations - caused by one or more components having slightly different characteristics or settings than they are assumed or supposed to have - arise. READ MORE

3. Micro-Flow Reactors for Kinetic Studies of Model Catalysts made by Electron-Beam Lithography
Abstract : The main objective of this work is to explore the potential of using electron beam lithography (EBL) to prepare well defined supported model catalysts, which can be used for catalytic research. The work has involved three major areas (i) EBL-fabrication of catalysts, (ii) design of a micro-flow reactor for catalytic evaluation, and (iii) problem oriented research using EBL-fabricated model catalysts. 4. Cerebral perfusion in cardiac surgery : with special reference to circulatory arrest during profound hypothermia
Abstract : Thirty-nine pediatric and 82 adult patients were studied during cardiac surgery with cardio pulmonary bypass (CPB) performed with moderate hypothermia or with deep hypothermia and circulatory arrest (DHCA) with or-without retrograde cerebral perfusion (RCP). Cerebral blood flow (CBF) was estimated from Doppler measurements of the blood velocity in the middle cerebral artery (MCAv). READ MORE

5. Computational modelling of blood flow in medical assist devices
Abstract : Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a life-saving support treat-ment in case of pulmonary and/or cardiac failure. An artificial extracorporealcircuit is used to offload the function of lungs and/or heart. READ MORE
