  1. 1. Aspects on intra-arterial thrombolysis for lower limb ischemia

    Author : Monica Kuoppala; Vaskulära sjukdomar - kliniska studier; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Intra-arterial thrombolysis. Lower limb ischemia. Outcome. Amputation-free survival. Hemorrhage. Risk factors.;

    Abstract : Background: Acute ischemia of the lower limb is a vascular emergency associated with amputation and death. Patients suffering from acute limb ischemia are usually elderly, and multiple comorbidities are often present. Intra-arterial thrombolysis is, perhaps, the most important minimal-invasive treatment option available today. READ MORE

  2. 2. Outcomes of invasive treatment in chronic limb-threatening ischaemia

    Author : Angelica Perlander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; chronic limb-threatening ischaemia; health-related quality of life; cost effectiveness; bypass; endovascular; amputation-free survival; critical limb ischaemia;

    Abstract : Background In chronic limb-threatening ischaemia (CLTI), obstruction of the arterial blood flow causes ischaemic rest pain, ulcers or gangrene in the lower extremities. Patients with CLTI have a substantial risk of amputation unless the blood flow is improved, which requires invasive treatment through either open surgery or endovascular intervention. READ MORE

  3. 3. Markers of tissue ischaemia in lower limb arterial insufficiency : an experimental and clinical study

    Keywords : Limb ischaemia; diagnosis; metabolism; skeletal muscle; subcutaneous adipose tissue; microdialysis; muscle biopsy; lactate; perfusion; lower body positive pressure; human; rat; ;

    Abstract : Lower limb ischaemic rest pain, ulcers or gangrene are late consequences of advanced peripheral arterial disease, one of the facets of systemic atherosclerosis. The majority of patients will meet current criteria for critical limb ischaemia (CLI). Life expectancy in these patients is severely limited mainly due to coexisting coronary heart disease. 4. 4. Lower limb venous incompetence and the effect of radiofrequency ablation versus open surgery : Focus on haemodynamics, quality of life and health economic aspects

    Abstract : Chronic venous incompetence (CVI) is a common condition, and varicose vein treatment is one of the most-common surgical procedures performed worldwide. Common symptoms of CVI are pain, cramps, itching, feeling of leg heaviness and venous claudication. Advanced CVI can lead to skin changes, eczema and venous ulcers. READ MORE
