  1. 1. Operational Military Violence : A Cartography of Bureaucratic Minds and Practices

    Author : Anders Malm; Marie Demker; Dan Öberg; Annika Bergman-Rosamond; Försvarshögskolan; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; military violence; bureaucratisation; operational level; targeting; military masculinity; Krigsvetenskap; Krigsvetenskap; military violence; bureaucratisation; operational level; targeting; military masculinity;

    Abstract : Western use of military violence is becoming increasingly centralised, partly through the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (or more commonly referred to as “drones” in the literature). Drone technology allows control and command of military operations to be put under one roof, and as military organisations traditionally have a close dependence on technological developments, procedures and regulations for centralised command and control have developed in close concert with advances in drone technology. 2. 2. Cold air, physical activity, and the airways : epidemiological and experimental studies

    Author : Linda Eklund; Nikolai Stenfors; Anne Lindberg; Thomas Sandström; Rita Sjöström; Leif Bjermer; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; asthma; asthma medication; athletes; cold temperature; environmental chamber; epidemiology; healthy; orienteers; physical activity; respiratory symptoms; risk factors; skiers; lungmedicin; Lung Medicine;

    Abstract : Background: Cold exposure is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Elite cross-country skiers are regularly exposed to cold, dry air and have a high prevalence of asthma compared to the Swedish population. READ MORE

  3. 3. Thermally driven wind modification in coastal areas and its influence on sound propagation with application to wind power

    Author : Karin Törnblom; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Wind power; sound propagation; thermally driven; coastal areas; temperature gradient; low level jet; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : The objective of the current study is to investigate the wind modifications in coastal areas and also to see the impact of atmospheric conditions on long-range sound propagation over sea. This is important when planning where to place wind turbines. READ MORE

  4. 4. The value of experimental data and modelling for exploration of hydrological functioning: The case of a till hillslope

    Author : Nino Amvrosiadi; Jan Seibert; Kevin Bishop; Keith Beven; April James; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Successfully modeling one system response (e.g. hydrograph or solute transport) sometimes gives the false sense of well-characterizing the modeled system. This is partly because of the well-known equifinality issue; during the calibration process multiple parameter combinations can produce similarly good results. READ MORE

  5. 5. Air-sea exchange of O2 and CO2 : Processes controlling the transfer efficiency

    Author : Andreas Andersson; Anna Rutgersson; Brian Ward; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; air-sea flux; oxygen; transfer velocity; water-side convection; Arctic; UVCN; Meteorologi; Meteorology;

    Abstract : World oceans cover more than 70% of the earth surface and constitutes a major sink of atmospheric CO2. Two of the most important gases in the marine carbon cycling are O2 and CO2 and hence accurate descriptions of the air-sea gas exchange of these gases are crucial. READ MORE
