  1. 1. Topics in Five Dimensional Supersymmetry and Topological Quantum Field Theories

    Author : Luigi Tizzano; Maxim Zabzine; Anton Kapustin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Supersymmetric Quantum Field Theories; Topological Quantum Field Theories; String Theory.;

    Abstract : We explore five-dimensional supersymmetric quantum field theories and topological quantum field theories. In five dimensions, we describe a framework to consistently define a supersymmetric theory on a curved spacetime manifold. READ MORE

  2. 2. Calculation and Measurement of the Neutron Emission Spectrum due to Thermonuclear and Higher-Order Reactions in Tokamak Plasmas

    Author : Luigi Ballabio; Jef Ongena; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Abstract : A series of analytic and numerical models have been developed for the prediction and interpretation of the energy spectrum of the neutron emission from thermonuclear deuteriumtritium (DT) plasmas. The main component of the neutron emission, due to reactions between thermal fuel ions, has been modeled as well as minority components due to the presence of fast (supra-thermal) ions. READ MORE

  3. 3. Multi-frequency SFDI : depth-resolved scattering models of wound healing

    Author : Luigi Belcastro; Rolf Saager; Hanna Jonasson; Lise Lyngsnes Randeberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SFDI; Light scattering; Wound healing;

    Abstract : With optical techniques, we refer to a group of methods that use of light to perform measurements on matter. Spatial frequency domain imaging (SFDI) is an optical technique that operates in the spatial frequency domain. READ MORE

  4. 4. Discovery and validation of protein biomarkers for lung cancer

    Author : Luigi De Petris; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Lung cancer is a disease characterized by high incidence and mortality rates as well as by a remarkable resistance to common treatment strategies. Reliable and validated biomarkers could represent a possible breakthrough in the management of this tumor type, by facilitating diagnosis, refining prognosis and providing guidance towards the choice of the most appropriate therapy. 5. 5. Adrenoceptors and nerve growth factor. Effects of electro-acupuncture and physical exercise in rats with steroid-induced polycystic ovaries

    Author : Luigi Manni; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is complex endocrine and metabolic disorder associated with ovulatory dysfunction, follicular cyst and hyperandrogenism. The abnormalities detected in PCOS have been attributed to primary defects in the hypothalamic-pituitary unit, the ovarian microenvironment, the adrenal gland, and the insulin/insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-1 metabolic regulatory system.
