  1. 1. Palladium(0)-Catalyzed Synthesis of Spirocycles and Supercritical Chemistry using a Resistively Heated Flow Reactor

    Author : Ahmed Adeyemi; Mats Larhed; Luke R. Odell; Kenneth Wärnmark; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Continuous Flow; Resistive heating; Supercritical fluids; high-temperature synthesis; Mizoroki-Heck reaction; Spirooxindoles; Spiroethers; Spirobenzofuranes; Unnatural Amino Acids;

    Abstract : This doctoral thesis focusses on an effective and selective approach to the synthesis of spirocycles using palladium(0)-catalyzed Mizoroki-Heck reactions. In addition, selective and efficient chemistry was highlighted by the design and evaluation of a novel resistively heated system for continuous flow (CF) synthesis for high-temperature and high-pressure applications. 2. 2. Development of HIV-1 Protease Inhibitors and Palladium-Catalyzed Synthesis of Aryl Ketones and N-Allylbenzamides

    Author : Linda Axelsson; Mats Larhed; Anders Karlén; Luke Odell; Morten Grötli; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; palladium; aminocarbonylation; aryl ketones; decarboxylation; HIV; protease inhibitor; tertiary alcohol; macrocycles; Medicinal Chemistry; Läkemedelskemi;

    Abstract : The use of palladium-catalyzed reactions to introduce new carbon-carbon bonds is a fundamental synthetic strategy that has been widely embraced due to its high chemo- and regioselectivity and functional group tolerance. In this context, Pd(0)-catalyzed aminocarbonylations using Mo(CO)6 instead of toxic and gaseous CO and with allylamine as the nucleophile were investigated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Hydroarylation of Fullerene C60 Using Arylboronic Acids via Rhodium Catalysis : Improving the Outcomes and Simplifying the Conditions

    Author : Merve Ergun Dönmez; Helena Grennberg; Luke Odell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fullerene; C60; hydroarylation; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Hydroarylation with arylboronic acids is one of the functionalization methods for synthesis of modified fullerenes. In this work, we provide a fast and reproducible one-phase method for hydroarylation of fullerene using boronic acids and an analytical HPLC method that efficiently separates unreacted C60 and product from a hydroarylation reaction mixture as well as a fulleropyrrolidine reaction mixture. 4. 4. A Chemical Approach Toward the Therapeutic Optimization of Cytotoxic Bioconjugates

    Author : Rafael Hartmann; Luke R. Odell; Fredrik Lehmann; Mats Larhed; Dario Neri; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : The delivery of cytotoxicity to specific cells was recognized to be the key to the effective, chemical treatment of infectious and neoplastic diseases well over a century ago. In the context of oncology, the primary therapeutic challenge is the distinction between healthy and pathological cells despite their pronounced pheno- and genotypic similarity. READ MORE
