1. Predictors of Lymph Node Metastasis in Primary Breast Cancer - Risk Models for Tailored Axillary Management
Abstract : Most patients with breast cancer present with low-risk tumors, node-negative disease, and excellent prognosis. For these patients, routine axillary nodal staging by sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) has no therapeutic benefit. For patients with limited sentinel lymph node metastasis, completion axillary nodal dissection is controversial. READ MORE

2. Experimental Diagnostics and Therapeutics of Invasive Urinary Bladder Cancer
Abstract : The two purposes of this thesis were to evaluate new diagnostic techniques of lymphnode staging in invasive bladder cancer and to evaluate the results of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in invasive bladder cancer.Sentinel node detection was performed in 13 patients in preparation for radical cystectomy. 3. Sentinel lymph node biopsy in breast cancer : aspects on indications and limitations
Abstract : Axillary lymph node status is the most important prognostic factor in breast cancer. Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) was introduced in the late 1990s and has replaced axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) as the gold standard axillary nodal staging procedure in early breast cancer due to higher accuracy and less morbidity compared with ALND. 4. Colon cancer : aspects on surgical treatment and complete mesocolic excision
Abstract : In rectal cancer, total mesorectal excision (TME), including surgery with dissection outside the mesorectal fascia, together with pre-operative radiotherapy improves survival. An educational effort on TME improved results in rectal cancer in Stockholm in the 1990’s. READ MORE

5. Utility of hybrid SPECT/CT in sentinel lymph node mapping, and [18]F FDG-PET/CT for treatment response evaluation in cancer patients
Abstract : The Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy (SLNB) method is currently well established in the staging of clinically node-negative breast cancer. However, there is some debate concerning the reliability of this method following previous breast surgery. READ MORE
