  1. 16. Ultrasound-assisted Interactions of Natural Killer Cells with Cancer Cells and Solid Tumors

    Author : Athanasia Christakou; Martin Wiklund; Sabeth Verpoorte; KTH; []
    Keywords : Natural killer cell; cytotoxicity; heterogeneity; multiwell microchip; biocompatibility; ultrasonic cell manipulation; 3D cell culture; solid tumor; spheroid; high-resolution imaging; Biologisk fysik; Biological Physics;

    Abstract : In this Thesis, we have developed a microtechnology-based method for culturing and visualizing high numbers of individual cells and cell-cell interactions over extended periods of time. The foundation of the device is a silicon-glass multiwell microplate (also referred as microchip) directly compatible with fluorescence microscopy. READ MORE

  2. 17. Human colorectal cancer : experimental staging and therapeutics

    Author : Kjell Dahl; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Colorectal cancer is the third most common cause of death in cancer worldwide and approximately one million individuals are diagnosed yearly. Surgery is the primary cure, and if that s not feasible, only palliative therapy remains. Colorectal cancer disseminates into peritumoral lymphatic vessels and further into the regional lymph nodes. 3. 18. Epidemiological aspects on hairy cell leukaemia

    Author : Marie Nordström; Håkan Olssen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Hairy cell leukaemia; case-control study; occupational exposures; Epstein-Barr virus; medical histmy; organochlorines; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Non Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) has an increasing incidence in many Western countries. In Sweden, about 1800 new cases were reported to the Cancer Registry in 1996 including cases of chronic lymphatic leukaemia (CLL). Hairy cell leukaemia (HCL) is a rare subgroup of malignant lymphoma. About 25 new cases are diagnosed among males in Sweden yearly. READ MORE

    Abstract : Lymphomas are malignant tumours arising from cells in the lymphatic system. They are classified as B-cell lymphomas, T-cell lymphomas and Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). Of the B-cell lymphomas, one of the most common is diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). READ MORE

  5. 20. Thrombospondin 1, an autocrine regulator in T cell adhesion and migration

    Author : ShuShun Li; Karl-Gösta Sundqvist; Jan Holgersson; Claes Dahlgren; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; T cell; adhesion; migration; thrombospondin; Immunologi; Immunology; Immunologi; immunologi; Immunology;

    Abstract : Lymphocytes, the principal cells of the immune system, perform the immune function throughout the body by their unique capacity to circulate in blood stream and lymphatic vessels and migrate in lymphoid and non-lymphoid tissues. The mechanisms regulating lymphocyte adhesion and migration, interactions with cells and components within the extracellular matrix are not fully understood. READ MORE
