  1. 6. Geophysical tools for prognosis of deformation in hardrock environments

    University dissertation from Luleå : Luleå tekniska universitet

    Author : Mai-Britt Mose Jensen; Luleå tekniska universitet.; [2011]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences - Exogenous eart sciences; AMS; Bergmekanik; Refleksions seismik; Gravimetri; Petrofysik; Geovetenskap - Exogen geovetenskap; Tillämpad geofysik; Applied Geophysics;

    Abstract : Underground mining of the Kiirunavaara iron mineralization is causing large-scale deformation of the hangingwall of the orebody. To understand and possibly predict future deformation, a structural model of the hanging wall and a good understanding of the petrophysical and mechanical properties of the constituent rocks is necessary. 2. 7. Rapid detection of drug resistance and genetic characterisation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates in Honduras

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Public Health Sciences

    Author : Senia Rosales; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2011]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Background: New challenges for tuberculosis (TB) control are emerging in the 21 st century. The deadly combination TB/HIV as well as the development and spread of new forms of drug resistance are some examples. In this context, the timely detection of TB cases, especially of those with resistant TB is important. READ MORE

  3. 8. Tuberculosis : Diagnosis and drug susceptibility testing where resources are scarce

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Public Health Sciences

    Author : Kristian Ängeby; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2004]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tuberculosis; diagnosis; microscopy; drug susceptibility testing; low-income countries;

    Abstract : Background: Tuberculosis remains a major global public health problem. Not surprisingly, most cases of this disease occur in poor countries and an increasing number of patients harbor drug - resistant bacteria. The cornerstone of bacteriological diagnosis of tuberculosis is direct sputum smear microscopy. READ MORE

  4. 9. Invariant Subspaces in Spaces of Analytic Functions

    University dissertation from Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Lund University

    Author : Ali Abkar; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [1999]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; functional analysis; Series; Fourier analysis; weighted Bergman space.; super-biharmonic function; quasi-Banach space of analytic functions; index; multiplier module homomorphism; multiplier; Banach space of analytic functions; hyperinvariant subspace; Serier; fourieranalys; funktionsanalys;

    Abstract : Let D be a finitely connected bounded domain with smooth boundary in the complex plane. We first study Banach spaces of analytic functions on D . The main result is a theorem which converts the study of hyperinvariant subspaces on multiply connected domains into the study of hyperinvariant subspaces on domains with fewer holes. READ MORE
