  1. 1. Increasing Energy Efficiency in Electric Trains Operation : Driver Advisory Systems and Energy Storage

    Author : Nima Ghaviha; Erik Dahlquist; Markus Bohlin; Fredrik Wallin; Rob M.P. Goverde; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Driver Advisory System; Catenary-free Operation; Electric Train; Electric Multiple Unit; Battery; Energy Efficiency; Energy Storage; Speed Profile Optimization; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Electric traction is the most efficient traction system in the railway transportation. However, due to the expensive infrastructure and high power demand from the grid, the share of electric trains in the railway transportation is still lower than other trains. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mobilized Thermal Energy Storage for Heat Recovery for Distributed Heating

    Author : Weilong Wang; Jinyue Yan; Erik Dahlquist; Jenny Holgersson; Hongxing Yang; Björn Karlsson; Mats Westermark; Louise Trygg; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Conventional energy sources—oil and electricity—dominate the heat supply market. Due to their rising costs and their negative environmental effects on global climate change, it is necessary to develop an alternative heat supply system featuring low cost, high energy efficiency and environment friendliness. 3. 3. ANALYZING THE HYDRO DYNAMICS AND THE CHEMICAL REACTIONS IN PULP DIGESTER SYSTEMS USING CFD MODELLING

    Author : Bijan Pourian; Erik Dahlquist; Laszlo Fuchs; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFD; MODELLING; SIMULATION; PULP; DIGESTER. CHEMICAL; MULTIPHASE; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to use differential analysis and finite volume method (FVM) to model and analyze a continuous pulp digester in order to create a detailed picture of the flow behaviour and chemical reactions in the digester. This information will be used to optimize wood chip flow and reactions and to diagnose and avoid faults such as hang-ups and channelling. READ MORE
