  1. 1. Generalized Vandermonde matrices and determinants in electromagnetic compatibility

    University dissertation from Västerås : Mälardalen University

    Author : Karl Lundengård; Mälardalens högskola.; [2017]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematics Applied Mathematics; matematik tillämpad matematik;

    Abstract : Matrices whose rows (or columns) consists of monomials of sequential powers are called Vandermonde matrices and can be used to describe several useful concepts and have properties that can be helpful for solving many kinds of problems. In this thesis we will discuss this matrix and some of its properties as well as a generalization of it and how it can be applied to curve fitting discharge current for the purpose of ensuring electromagnetic compatibility. 2. 2. On Methods for Real Time Sampling and Distributions in Sampling

    University dissertation from Umeå : Matematisk statistik

    Author : Kadri Meister; Umeå universitet.; [2004]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical statistics; Finite population sampling; inferential issues; real time sampling; sequential sampling methods; negative sampling correlations; model-design-based inference; multivariate Bernoulli and multinomial designs; Matematisk statistik; MATHEMATICS Applied mathematics Mathematical statistics; MATEMATIK Tillämpad matematik Matematisk statistik; Mathematical Statistics; matematisk statistik;

    Abstract : This thesis is composed of six papers, all dealing with the issue of sampling from a finite population. We consider two different topics: real time sampling and distributions in sampling. The main focus is on Papers A–C, where a somewhat special sampling situation referred to as real time sampling is studied. READ MORE

  3. 3. Topics in Human Gene Mapping

    University dissertation from Mathematical Statistics, Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Lund University

    Author : Azra Kurbasic; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2007]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; actuarial mathematics; Statistik; programming; Statistics; Mathematics; Naturvetenskap; Natural science; hidden Markov model; linkage analysis; Human genome; disease gene; programmering; aktuariematematik; operationsanalys; operations research; Matematik;

    Abstract : This thesis is interdisciplinary between Mathematical Statistics, Genetics, and Medicine. It mainly consists of topics in mathematical modelling of the correlation of inheritance of genes and disease in a family, a method called linkage analysis. It is organized as follows. READ MORE

  4. 4. Stochastic Modeling and Simulation of the TCP protocol

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Avdelningen för matematisk statistik

    Author : Jörgen Olsén; Uppsala universitet.; [2003]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical statistics; TCP; flow-control; network simulator; ns-2; stochastic modeling; throughput; packet loss rate; fixed-point method; Matematisk statistik; MATHEMATICS Applied mathematics Mathematical statistics; MATEMATIK Tillämpad matematik Matematisk statistik;

    Abstract : The success of the current Internet relies to a large extent on a cooperation between the users and the network. The network signals its current state to the users by marking or dropping packets. The users then strive to maximize the sending rate without causing network congestion. READ MORE

  5. 5. Aspects of cash-flow valuation

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Matematik

    Author : Fredrik Armerin; KTH.; [2004]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical statistics; arbitrage; coherent and convex measures of risk; immunization; insurance; martingale methods; Matematisk statistik; MATHEMATICS Applied mathematics Mathematical statistics; MATEMATIK Tillämpad matematik Matematisk statistik;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of five papers. In the first two papers we consider a general approach to cash flow valuation, focusing on dynamic properties of the value of a stream of cash flows. The third paper discusses immunization theory, where old results are shown to hold in general deterministic models, but often fail to be true in stochastic models. READ MORE
