  1. 1. Accelerator physics studies of the MAX-lab storage rings

    Author : Magnus Sjöström; Lunds universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electron accelerator; linear optics; storage ring; characterisation; synchrotron radiation; emittance; intrabeam scattering; electron beam profile;

    Abstract : Within research, synchrotron radiation is a highly useful probe for the study of materials, their properties and structures. Currently, no other radiation source allows the combination of high intensity and short wavelengths. READ MORE

  2. 2. Two-body Photodisintegration of ³He

    Author : Martin Karlsson; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; differential cross sections; three-nucleon forces; MAX-lab; tagged photons; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:000;

    Abstract : In a series of experiments using the tagged photon facility at MAX-lab located in Lund, Sweden, the two-body photodisintegration of ³He has been investigated in the photon energy range 14--32 MeV. Differential cross sections of the reaction ³He(g,d) have been measured by detecting deuterons and protons in silicon surface barrier detectors. READ MORE

  3. 3. Small science on big machines: Politics and practices of synchrotron radiation laboratories

    Author : Olof Hallonsten; Research Policy Institute (RPI); []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; big science; little science; sophistication; collectivization; European Synchrotron Radiation Facility; Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource; MAX-lab; scientific entrepreneurs; changing dynamics of science; Synchrotron radiation; research policy; science policy;

    Abstract : Synchrotron radiation laboratories are large scientific facilities where various scientific experiments are carried out by the use of radiation produced by particle accelerators. Research with synchrotron radiation emerged in the 1960s and 1970s as a peripheral activity at particle physics laboratories. READ MORE

    Abstract : Clusters are finite ensembles of atoms or molecules with sizes in the nanometer regime (i.e. nanoparticles). This thesis present results on the geometric and electronic structure of homogeneous and heterogeneous combinations of atoms and molecules. READ MORE

  5. 5. Aqueous Solutions as seen through an Electron Spectrometer : Surface Structure, Hydration Motifs and Ultrafast Charge Delocalization Dynamics

    Author : Niklas Ottosson; Svante Svensson; Olle Björneholm; Gunnar Öhrwall; Clemens Heske; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : In spite of their high abundance and importance, aqueous systems are enigmatic on the microscopic scale. In order to obtain information about their geometrical and electronic structure, simple aqueous solutions have been studied experimentally by photo- and Auger electron spectroscopy using the novel liquid micro-jet technique in conjunction with synchrotron radiation.
