21. Gas Adsorption and Permeation in MFI Zeolites and Membranes
Abstract : The single and multi component gas adsorption behavior on silicalite-1 and cation exchanged MZSM-5 zeolites (M = H, Na, and Ba) were investigated by a step change response method. Temperature programmed desorption (TPD) and in-situ fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy were also performed to study the type of adsorbed species and their thermal stabilities. READ MORE

22. Properties of molecular sieve membranes
Abstract : Zeolites are crystalline aluminosilicates with molecular sieving properties and are widely used in industry for catalysis, sorption and ion-exchange applications. Zeolite membranes are commercially interesting since this technology may be employed for continuous separation of molecules under severe conditions. READ MORE

23. Modified and hybrid cellulose-based materials for water purification
Abstract : The need for clean water has led to the development of several different water treatment methods as well as to a large number of organic, inorganic, hybrid and/or composite materials that are used in these methods. Cellulose, being a highly abundant biopolymer with meritorious properties, such as high mechanical strength, tunable surface chemistry, high aspect ratio and surface area, to mention a few, is exploited in the current thesis for water treatment applications. 24. From Responsive Interfaces to Honeycomb Membranes by Controlled Radical Polymerisation
Abstract : In this study, surface modification of both organic and inorganic substrates (in terms of cellulose and silica nanoparticles, respectively) has been explored using surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerisation (ATRP). The desire to modify bio-based materials to fit into new application areas and the need for bio-based materials with improved material properties is steadily increasing due to environmental concern. 25. Inflation Mechanics of Hyperelastic Membranes
Abstract : The applications of inflatable membrane structures are increasing rapidly in the various fields of engineering and science. The geometric, material, force and contact non-linearities complicate this subject further, which in turn increases the demand for computationally efficient methods and interpretations of counter-intuitive behaviors noted by the scientific community.
