  1. 6. Expression and function of vascular estrogen receptors alpha and beta

    Author : Min Liang; Kärlfysiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetologi; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; ubiquitin-proteasome pathway; MIP-2; MCP-1; iNOS; estrogen receptor knockout; estrogen receptor; aorta; estrogen;

    Abstract : Estrogen receptors (ER) are expressed not only in classical target organs for estrogen like breast and uterus, but also in male reproductive system as well as in non-reproductive organs such as brain, liver and bone. The functions of ER are quite well known in reproductive organs but less information is available regarding their function in vascular tissue. READ MORE

  2. 7. Plasma environment of an intermediately active comet : Evolution and dynamics observed by ESA's Rosetta spacecraft at 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko

    Author : Elias Odelstad; Anders Eriksson; Andrew Coates; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Rosetta; comet; 67P; RPC-LAP; RPC-MIP; RPC-ICA; RPC-MAG; ROSINA-COPS; Langmuir probe; spacecraft potential; plasma; Churyumov-Gerasimenko; ion composition analyzer; diamagnetic cavity; ion velocity; electron temperature; ion-neutral drag; collisional coupling; wake effects; filamentation; electron cooling; plasma waves; hybrid waves; Bernstein waves; minimum variance; polarization; wavelet; density fluctuations; magnetic field oscillations; drift-cyclotron instability; asymmetric plasma and magnetic field enhancements; Fysik med inriktning mot rymd- och plasmafysik; Physics with specialization in Space and Plasma Physics;

    Abstract : The subject of this thesis is the evolution and dynamics of the plasma environment of a moderately active comet before, during and after its closest approach to the Sun. For over 2 years in 2014-2016, the European Space Agency’s Rosetta spacecraft followed the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko at distances typically between a few tens and a few hundred kilometers from the nucleus, the longest and closest inspection of a comet ever made. 3. 8. Crosstalk between Inflammation and Coagulation in Acute Pancreatitis - Experimental and Clinical Studies

    Author : Ellen Andersson; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; inflammation; acute pancreatitis; active site inactivated factor VII; bleeding; coagulation; factor VII; FVIIai; hemorrhagic complications; hemorrhage; interleukin-6; MIP-2; nuclear factor kappa B; tissue factor;

    Abstract : In various inflammatory conditions a close interplay between inflammation and coagulation is known to exist, where coagulation factor VII (FVII) and tissue factor (TF) are considered to be pivotal players. In this thesis the crosstalk between inflammation and coagulation in acute pancreatitis (AP) has been investigated. READ MORE

  4. 9. Rosetta spacecraft potential and activity evolution of comet 67P

    Author : Elias Odelstad; Anders Eriksson; Arne Pedersen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Rosetta; comet; 67P; RPC-LAP; RPC-MIP; Langmuir probe; spacecraft potential; plasma; Fysik med inriktning mot rymd- och plasmafysik; Physics with specialization in Space and Plasma Physics;

    Abstract : The plasma environment of an active comet provides a unique setting for plasma physics research. The complex interaction of newly created cometary ions with the flowing plasma of the solar wind gives rise to a plethora of plasma physics phenomena, that can be studied over a large range of activity levels as the distance to the sun, and hence the influx of solar energy, varies. 5. 10. (Nano)materials for electrochemical sensing applications in different fields

    Author : Nasrin Razmi; Omer Nur; Magnus Willander; Frank Bier; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electrochemical bio sensors; Nanomaterials; AuNSs; α-Fe2O3 ZnO nanocomposite; RuO2-Nf pH electrodes; MIP technology;

    Abstract : Health care and the medical industry, environmental monitoring and food sector are just a few examples of human’s major concerns. Design and analytical applications of (bio)sensors and sensing (nano)materials in these fields which have drawn tremendous attention by scientific community, require multidisciplinary knowledge in materials, transducers, and measurement methodologies.
