  1. 1. Eastern equatorial Pacific bulk sediment properties and paleoceanography since the late Neogene

    Author : Daniele Reghellin; Helen K. Coxall; Jan Backman; Gerald R. Dickens; Steve Hovan; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Paleoceanography; late Neogene; eastern equatorial Pacific; deep sea sediments; bulk sediment; stable isotopes; surface mixed layer; sediment physical properties; Marine Geology; maringeologi;

    Abstract : Reconstructing eastern equatorial Pacific (EEP) oceanography since the late Neogene (about 8 million years ago, Ma) is a central topic in current paleoceanographic investigations. The reason for this is two-fold. READ MORE

  2. 2. Ocean mixing and polynyas at Maud Rise, Weddell Sea

    Author : Martin Mohrmann; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oceanography; Weddell Sea; Southern Ocean; Maud Rise; Polynya; Frontal mixing;

    Abstract : The Weddell Sea Polynya is an intermittent, ice free area in the marginal ice zone with an extent of up to 350 000 km². It was first observed by satellites in the winter seasons of 1974-1976. In 2016 and 2017, an open-ocean polynya opened over the Maud Rise oceanic plateau in the eastern Weddell Sea, which was the largest since the 70’s. READ MORE

  3. 3. Borehole sealing with expandable buffer clays in HLW disposal : Lab-scale performance

    Author : Ting Yang; Jörn Kasbohm; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Soil Mechanics; Geoteknik;

    Abstract : Two basically different multibarrier concepts for high-level radioactive waste (HLW) are the often cited KBS-3 V/H concepts, for isolating nuclear waste at 400-600 m depth and Very Deep Boreholes concepts (VDH) for placement at 2000-4000 m depth. Both make use of expandable clay as isolating medium of canisters with HLW and as backfill material in shafts and tunnels in repositories for safe disposal of such waste. READ MORE

  4. 4. Simplified treatment of the atmospheric and oceanic boundary layer

    Author : Mohamed S. Smeda; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the evolution of the atmospheric planetary boundary layer, APBL, in which momentum and heat fluxes through the APBL are determined using the bulk values of wind and temperature within the layer. Two ways were explored and tested in determining the primary variables, i.e. READ MORE

  5. 5. Mineral diagenesis and petrology of the Dala Sandstone, central Sweden

    Author : Ala Aldahan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The Dala Sandstone, of Proterozoic age, is the most extensive sedimentary unit in central Sweden. The rocks are quartz sandstones, lithic sandstones, feldspathic sandstones, arkoses and greywackes with intercalations of shales and siltstones less than 1 m thick. The Öje Basalt divides the sedimentary sequence into two parts. READ MORE
