  1. 1. Genetic and epidemiological studies of hereditary colorectal cancer

    Author : Kristina Cederquist; Henrik Grönberg; Irina Golovleva; Gösta Holmgren; Mef Nilbert; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Lynch syndrome; HNPCC; colorectal cancer; endometrial cancer; cancer risk; MSI; MLH1; MSH2; MSH6; genome-wide scan; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; medicinsk genetik; Medical Genetics;

    Abstract : Lynch syndrome (Hereditary Nonpolyposis Colorectal Cancer, HNPCC) is the most common hereditary syndrome predisposing to colorectal cancer, accounting for 1-3% of all colorectal cancer. This multi-organ cancer predisposition syndrome is caused by mutations in the mismatch repair (MMR) genes, especially MLH1 and MSH2, and to lesser extents MSH6 and PMS2, which lead to widespread genetic instability and thus microsatellite instability (MSI). 2. 2. Associations of sex, anthropometric and reproductive factors with clinicopathological and molecular characteristics of colorectal cancer

    Author : Jenny Brändstedt; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; colorectal cancer; carcinogenesis; MDCS; anthropometrics; risk factors; sex differences; hormonal therapy; beta-catenin; cyclin D1; p53; MSI; KRAS mutation; BRAF mutation;

    Abstract : Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer globally, with approximately 1.2 million new cases every year. The highest incidence rates are seen in developed countries, thereby imposing dietary and lifestyle factors in the etiology of CRC. READ MORE

  3. 3. Metabolic Risk Factors and Molecular Subtypes of Colorectal Cancer

    Author : Robin Myte; Bethany van Guelpen; Richard Palmqvist; Jenny Häggström; Matty Weijenberg; Umeå universitet; []

    Abstract : Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a heterogeneous disease developing from distinct pathways, resulting in tumor subtypes with large differences in clinical and molecular characteristics. Molecular characteristics are increasingly being used clinically to guide therapy. READ MORE
