  1. 1. Ergonomic Workplace Design Analysis: Development of a practitioner's tool for enhanced productivity

    Author : Jonas Laring; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; musculoskeletal load analysis; prospective ergonomics; SAM; ErgoSAM; workplace design; MTM;

    Abstract : There is a lack of pragmatic methods to assess musculoskeletal load risks when planning for production when there is no human operator to observe that performs the tasks. Existing methods are generally either expensive computer manikin software that is complicated to learn and use, simple digital human models for static and episodic analysis best used by trained ergonomists or methods in need of full-scale prototypes for observation. 2. 2. Learning and memory in moths - plasticity in behaviour and neurophysiology

    Author : Ruey-Jane Fan; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proboscis extension reflex PER ; LTM; MTM; STM; memory; inter-trial-interval ITI ; inter-stimulus interval ISI ; US; CS; olfaction; Associative learning; classical conditioning; discrimination; the US pathway; Ecology; Ekologi; Animal physiology; Djurfysiologi;

    Abstract : The moth, Spodoptera littoralis, was demonstrated to be a new model system for studying mechanisms underlying odour conditioning. In the experiments a restrained moth was trained to learn an association between a conditioned stimulus (CS) and an unconditioned stimulus (US). READ MORE

  3. 3. High Clay Content Cellulose Nanocomposites for Mechanical Performance and Fire Retardancy

    Author : Lilian Medina; Lars Berglund; Jeffrey W. Gilman; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nanocellulose; nanofibril; nanofiber; CNF; nanoplatelet; nanostructure; tactoid; montmorillonite; MTM; foam; aerogel; porosity; PVA; poly vinyl alcohol ; epoxy; moisture; biocomposite; biomaterial; biobased; flame; cone calorimetry; gas barrier; coating; film.; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Abstract : Materials based on wood can offer sustainable alternatives to fossil-based plastics and composites, and show interesting mechanical properties. However, the issue of their flammability is generally unresolved. In this thesis, eco-friendly, fire retardant clay-cellulose nanofibril materials are investigated. READ MORE

  4. 4. Phase field modeling of flaw-induced hydride precipitation kinetics in metals

    Author : Claudio F. Nigro; Christer Persson; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hydride; phase field theory; linear elastic fracture mechanics; finite element method; phase transformation; hydrogen embrittlement; finite volume method;

    Abstract : Hydrogen embrittlement can manifest itself as hydride formation in structures when in contact with hydrogen-rich environments, e.g. in space and nuclear power applications. To supplant experimentation, modeling of such phenomena is beneficial to make life prediction reduce cost and increase the understanding. READ MORE

  5. 5. Phase-field modeling of stress-induced precipitation and kinetics in engineering metals

    Author : Claudio F. Nigro; Christina Bjerkén; Ylva Mellbin; Pär A T Olsson; Reinhart Pippan; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; phase-field theory; finite element method; corrosion; finite volume method; phase transformation; hydride; hydrogen embrittlement; linear elastic fracture mechanics;

    Abstract : The formation of brittle compounds in metals operating in corrosive environments can be a tremendous source of embrittlement for industrial structures and such phenomenon is commonly enhanced in presence of stresses. To study this type of microstructural change modeling is preferred to experiment to reduce costs and prevent undesirable environmental impacts. READ MORE
