  1. 1. Ferrochelatase and Magnesiumchelatase: Metal chelation studied with mutants

    Author : Ulf Olsson; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; chlorophyll; heme; barley; mutants; Magnesium chelatase; ferrochelatase; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism;

    Abstract : Magnesium chelatase and ferrochelatase are two very important enzymes, which are involved in chlorophyll and heme biosynthesis, respectively. They both use protoporphyrin IX as substrate but magnesium chelatase inserts a magnesium ion whereas ferrochelatase inserts a ferrous ion. These two enzymes have been studied in this thesis. 2. 2. Magnesium Chelatase: Insights into the first Step of Chlorophyll Biosynthesis

    Author : Nick Sirijovski; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electron microscopy; Proteobacteria; Mutants; Rhodobacter capsulatus; Tetrapyrrole; Plant biochemistry; Växtbiokemi; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism; Proteins; enzymologi; enzymology; Proteiner; Chlorophyll biosynthesis; AAA proteins; Magnesium chelatase; Barley; ATPase;

    Abstract : The enzyme magnesium chelatase inserts magnesium into protoporphyrin IX (Proto) to produce to magnesium protoporphyrin IX, the first unique intermediate of the chlorophyll biosynthetic pathway. Magnesium chelatase is composed of three distinct proteins termed I (molecular weight ~40 kDa), D (~70 kDa) and H (~140 kDa). READ MORE

  3. 3. Insights into structure and dynamics of the AAA+ motor of magnesium chelatase

    Author : Joakim Lundqvist; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioinformatik; biomathematics biometrics; Bioinformatics; medical informatics; Rhodobacter capsulatus; Tetrapyrrole; Mutants; Magnesium chelatase; Cryo-Electron microscopy single-particle 3D reconstruction; Chlorophyll biosynthesis; AAA proteins; ATPase; medicinsk informatik; biomatematik; Molecular biophysics; Molekylär biofysik; Natural science; Naturvetenskap;

    Abstract : The insertion of Mg2+ into protoporphyrin IX represents the first committed step in the chlorophyll and bacteriochlorophyll biosynthetic pathways. The reaction is catalyzed by the multisubunit enzyme Mg-chelatase, which consists of three subunits, known as I (molecular weight ~40 kDa), D (~70 kDa), and H (~140 kDa). READ MORE

  5. 5. Studies on spinach plastocyanin and mutants : Expression in Escherichia coli, folding and function

    Author : Mikael Ejdebäck; Örjan Hansson; Miguel A. De la Rosa; Göteborgs Universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plastocyanin; electron transfer; copper; protein-protein interactions; protein expression; folding; site-directed mutagenesis; NMR; Naturvetenskap; Natural sciences;

    Abstract : Photosynthesis is a process in which photons from sunlight excite chlorophylls in the thylakoid membranes of plants, algae and cyanobacteria. The photo-oxidised reaction centre chlorophyll P700 is re-reduced by an electron transferred from the soluble, blue copper protein plastocyanin. READ MORE
