  1. 21. Parameters affecting the functionality of additives in lubricated contacts : effect of base oil polarity

    Author : Aldara Naveira Suarez; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : Traditionally rolling contact fatigue observed in bearing field applications was subsurface initiated. However, despite the improvement of steel properties, some factors such as downsizing in bearing design, extreme loading of the bearings as well as demanding application conditions (start up-stop cycles) have led to an increase on the cases of surface damage related to surface initiated fatigue, that comes basically from surface distress. 2. 22. Tribology of Rolling-Sliding Contacts under Mixed Lubrication : With focus on a Crankshaft Roller Bearing Application

    Author : Aleks Vrček; Pär Marklund; Roland Larsson; Amir Kadiric; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : A continuous increase in environmental legislation to reduce CO2 emissions is forcing engineers and scientists to develop more efficient and durable mechanical components, i.e. bearings, crankshafts, gears, etc. READ MORE

  3. 23. Ionic Liquid Lubricants for Space Applications

    Author : Erik Nyberg; Ichiro Minami; Javier Martin-Torres; Maria-Dolores Bermudez; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine Elements; Maskinelement;

    Abstract : Lubrication is critical to the efficient and reliable operation of machine elements such as gears, bearings, or any other moving mechanical assembly (MMA). On Earth, machine designers are accustomed to the access of a wide range of liquid lubricants that enable predictable and reliable long-term operations of high performance MMA. READ MORE

  4. 24. Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication of Cam and Roller Follower Applications : Fast and Reliable Predictions of Friction

    Author : Mohammad Shirzadegan; Daniele Dini; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine Elements; Maskinelement;

    Abstract : Modelling and simulation in tribology, and more specifically of friction in lubricated contacts, has gained increasing attention over the past years. In a lubricated contact, the dissipation of energy is due to the relative motion of the mating surfaces and arise due to direct contact as well as shearing of the lubricant film. READ MORE

  5. 25. Synthetic lubricants and polymer composites for large full film journal bearings

    Author : Gregory F Simmons; Patrick De Baets; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : The rapid build-up of variable renewable power sources such as wind and solar are leading to increased instability in the electrical grid. Many methods of controlling this instability have been proposed but existing hydroelectric power plants in many cases already been enlisted to fill the regulating power needs of industry and the population.
