  1. 1. Contrast-Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Angiography - Development and optimization of techniques for paramagnetic and hyperpolarized contrast media

    Author : Jonas Svensson; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; egenskaper elektriska; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:elektronstruktur; spectroscopy; relaxation; Angiography; Magnetic resonance; Contrast-enhanced; Hyperpolarized; Condensed matter:electronic structure; 13C; supraconductors; electrical; magnetic and optical properties; magnetiska och optiska ; supraledare; magnetisk resonans; spektroskopi;

    Abstract : Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) is a diagnostic method for imaging of vascular structures based on nuclear magnetic resonance. Vascular enhancement is achieved by injection of a contrast medium (CM). READ MORE

  2. 2. On contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography of the aortoiliac arteries

    Author : Johan Wikström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Magnetic resonance imaging; Magnetic resonance angiography; Contrast media; Arteriosclerosis; Iliac artery; Blood pressures; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; radiologi; Radiology;

    Abstract : In contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA),vascular signal is produced by the acquisition of a T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging scan while the presence of a contrast agent induces a low T1 in blood. In this thesis,CE-MRA of the aortoiliac arteries was evaluated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Assessment of Atherosclerosis by Whole-Body Magnetic Resonance Angiography

    Author : Tomas Hansen; Håkan Ahlström; Lars Lind; Johan Wikström; Lars Johansson; Björn Fagerberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Radiology; Atherosclerosis; Magnetic Resonance Angiography; Epidemiology; Radiologisk forskning;

    Abstract : Atherosclerosis is a serious threat to public health and a major cause of morbidity and mortality. In this doctoral research, the feasibility of using whole-body magnetic resonance angiography (WBMRA) was studied as a principal aim both in patients and in an epidemiological setting. READ MORE

  4. 4. Non-invasive diagnostic methods of intracranial arteries

    Author : Birgitta Ramgren; Lund Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; intracranial aneurysms; endovascular treatment; follow-up; subarachnoid haemorrhage; digital subtraction angiography; magnetic resonance angiography; computed tomography angiography; technical aspects; contrast agents; image quality;

    Abstract : Aims of this thesis were to compare the agreement of different magnetic resonance angiography(MRA) techniques and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) in follow-up of intracranial aneurysms treated with coils in order to select the best MRA method, to evaluate the impact of increased iodine concentration in contrast medium and decreased tube voltage on arterial attenuation and image quality in computed tomography angiography (CTA) of intracranial arteries, and finally to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of CTA in non-traumatic subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) compared to DSA and to assess the arterial attenuation (HU) as an image quality factor in this aspect. Follow-up DSA and time-of-flight (TOF) MRA at 1. READ MORE

  5. 5. The Utility of Ultrasmall Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Contrast Agents for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging

    Author : Lars Johansson; Håkan Ahlström; Hans-Jørgen Smith; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; Magnetic resonance imaging; Contrast agent; Iron Oxide; Cardiovascular; Radiologisk forskning; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to investigate the utility of the Ultrasmall Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Particle (USPIO), NC100150 Injection for assessment of macro- and microvascular morphology and function using magnetic resonance imaging. The feasibility of NC100150 Injection was tested for the following applications: Coronary angiography, Thrombus detection, Cardiac function, Myocardial perfusion, Assessment of myocardial blood volume and water exchange and finally assessment of endothelial integrity of the myocardium.
