  1. 31. Computational studies on 2D and 3D amorphous solids : Investigation of structure-property relationship

    Author : Emel Gürbüz; Biplab Sanyal; Andreas Larsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Amorphous solids; Metallic glasses; Classical molecular dynamics simulations; Thermal transport; Density functional theory; 2D glasses; Vibrational properties; Magnetism; Optical properties;

    Abstract : Amorphous materials represent a large and diverse family, with many questions still remaining unanswered regarding their structure-property relationship. The structural complexity of these materials poses challenges for simulations in contrast to crystalline materials where density functional theory (DFT) can be used easily by exploiting the translation symmetry. 2. 32. Electronic Transport in Materials

    Author : Velimir Meded; Susanne Mirbt; Ingrid Mertig; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Electronic Structure; Ab initio; Condensed Matter Theory; Hydrogen; Boltzmann Transport Equation; Magnetism; Alloys; Fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Transport properties within the Boltzmann transport equation for metallic multi-layer structures as well as bulk materials, were the prime topic of this work. Ab initio total energy calculations for Hydrogen loaded metallic multi-layers were performed in order to shed some light onto problem of H depleted layers at the interfaces that have been experimentally observed. 3. 33. Thermodynamic and Kinetic Investigation of the Fe-Cr-Ni System Driven by Engineering Applications

    Author : Wei Xiong; Malin Selleby; John Ågren; Byeong-Joo Lee; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; phase transformation; magnetism; spinodal decomposition; stainless steel; low temperature CALPHAD; phase field; ab initio; atom probe tomography; calorimetry; SRA - E-vetenskap SeRC ; SRA - E-Science SeRC ; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi;

    Abstract : This work is a thermodynamic and kinetic study of the Fe-Cr-Ni system as the core of stainless steels. The Fe-Cr, Fe-Ni and Cr-Ni systems were studied intensively using both computational and experimental techniques, including CALPHAD (CALculation of PHAse Diagrams), phase field simulation, ab initio modeling, calorimetry, and atom probe tomography. 4. 34. First-principles Studies of Local Structure Effects in Magnetic Materials

    Author : Marcio Costa; Anders Bergman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; magnetic anisotropy; DMFT; magnetism; DFT; Materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : This thesis focus on the magnetic behavior, from single atoms to bulk materials. The materials considered in this thesis have been studied by computational methods based on ab initio theory, density functional theory (DFT), including treatment of the spin-orbit coupling, non-collinear magnetism, and methods capable of treating discorded systems. 5. 35. Properties of Multifunctional Oxide Thin Films Despostied by Ink-jet Printing

    Author : Mei Fang; Lyubov Belova; K. Venkat Rao; Gillian Gehring; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ink-jet printing; oixde; thin film; ink; suspension; dye sensitized solar cell; functional properties; magnetism; diluted magnetic semiconductors;

    Abstract : Ink-jet printing offers an ideal answer to the emerging trends and demands of depositing at ambient temperatures picoliter droplets of oxide solutions into functional thin films and device components with a high degree of pixel precision. It is a direct single-step mask-free patterning technique that enables multi-layer and 3D patterning. READ MORE
