  1. 1. Detection and Classification in Electrocardiac Signals

    Author : Magnus Åström; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; Signal processing; morphology classification; QRS detection; ischemia; body position changes; electrogram; ECG; electrocardiogram; clustering; classification; Detection; sensing;

    Abstract : Signal processing can be used to condition medical signals to facilitate their interpretation, and to extract clinically important information. The purpose of the present doctoral thesis is to put forward solutions to certain problems encountered in the processing of electrocardiac signals. READ MORE

  2. 2. Implementing artificial neural networks in microsimulation

    Author : Magnus Åström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []

    Abstract : This licentiate thesis presents a work focused on investigating the possibility of using "artificial methods" such as artificial neural networks (ANN) as an analytical alternative to the conventional technique of regression. The work has been concentrated towards two different modules in the SVERIGE microsimulation model, an earnings module used for predicting individual earnings and a property value module used for predicting real estate prices. 3. 3. Democratic innovations in political systems : towards a systemic approach

    Author : Magnus Adenskog; Joachim Åström; Jan Olsson; Henrik Serup Christiansen; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Democratic innovations; online political participation; political institutions; political trust; political systems;

    Abstract : There are many indicators that the representative democratic system is currently facing serious legitimacy challenges. Two central indicators of these challenges are changing patterns of political participation and a decline in system support. READ MORE

  4. 4. Quantification of mineral weathering rates in sulfidic mine tailings under water-saturated conditions

    Author : Magdalena Gleisner; Docent Roger Herbert; Professor Emeritus Rolf Hallberg; Dr. Magnus Land; Professor Patrick Crill; Mats Åström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; mine tailings; pyrite; sulfides; weathering; oxygen availability; Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : Tailings are a fine-grained waste product produced during the metal recovery process. Tailings consist mostly of different silicates but also sulfides (e.g. pyrite), since 100 % metal recovery is not possible. READ MORE

  5. 5. Iron in the Lena River basin, NE Russia : Insights from microscopy, spectroscopy and isotope analysis

    Author : Catherine Hirst; Carl-Magnus Mörth; Per Andersson; Mats Erik Åström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; iron; reactivity; isotopes; permafrost; river; Arctic; maringeologi; Marine Geology;

    Abstract : Iron is an important mediator of biotic and abiotic processes on the Earth’s surface, being an electron acceptor in organic matter degradation, a surface for organic matter and trace element adsorption, and a required element for enzymatic processes during primary production. Yet, the role of iron as a mediator of carbon and trace element cycling in high latitude, permafrost-dominated regions remains poorly investigated. READ MORE
