2. Towards an adaptive solver for high-dimensional PDE problems on clusters of multicore processors
Abstract : Accurate numerical simulation of time-dependent phenomena in many spatial dimensions is a challenging computational task apparent in a vast range of application areas, for instance quantum dynamics, financial mathematics, systems biology and plasma physics. Particularly problematic is that the number of unknowns in the governing equations (the number of grid points) grows exponentially with the number of spatial dimensions introduced, often referred to as the curse of dimensionality. 3. Adaptive Solvers for High-Dimensional PDE Problems on Clusters of Multicore Processors
Abstract : Accurate numerical solution of time-dependent, high-dimensional partial differential equations (PDEs) usually requires efficient numerical techniques and massive-scale parallel computing. In this thesis, we implement and evaluate discretization schemes suited for PDEs of higher dimensionality, focusing on high order of accuracy and low computational cost. READ MORE

4. Margaret Atwood's Environmentalism : Apocalypse and Satire in the MaddAddam Trilogy
Abstract : This study considers the way in which Margaret Atwood’s post-apocalyptic MaddAddam Trilogy functions as an environmental project. The main focus is on how the three novels, Oryx and Crake (2003), The Year of the Flood (2009), and MaddAddam (2013), simultaneously draw on and destabilise the apocalypticism inherent in so much environmental discourse, primarily through the use of satire. 5. High Order Finite Difference Methods with Artificial Boundary Treatment in Quantum Dynamics
Abstract : The investigation of the dynamics of chemical reactions, both from the theoretical and experimental side, has drawn an increasing interest since Ahmed H. Zewail was awarded the 1999 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on femtochemistry. READ MORE
