6. Phosphine ligands with triamine functionality - preparation and application in catalysis
Abstract : Incorporation of the triamine, bis(2-diethylaminoethyl) amine as a side chain substituent on triphenylphosphine, (2S,4S)-4-diphenylphosphino-2-diphenylphosphino-methylpyrrolidine (PPM) or (R,R)-3,4-bis(diphenylphosphin)pyrrolidine (Pyrphos) gives the three new amphiphilic ligands N3P, N3PPM and N3-Pyrphos respectively. Because of the triamine functionality the distribution of the ligands and their complexes between water and an organic solvent is controlled by the pH of the aqueous phase. READ MORE

7. Static and Dynamic Modelling of the Drying Section of a Paper Machine
Abstract : The paper making process involves chopping of wood, cooking and forming, followed by dewatering in a vacuum section, press section and drying section. Several models for the most important parts of the paper machine drying section are presented in this thesis to describe phenomena at steady state and during state transitions. READ MORE

8. The liberalisation of telecommunications in Sweden : Technology and regime change from the 1960s to 1993
Abstract : This study describes the liberalisation of telecommunications in Sweden and analyses the role of technology in this process. The stable and largely successful traditional monopoly regime was challenged in the 1980s by the development of new technologies and the general trend towards market orientation and competition. 9. Analysing strategic energy-related investments in process industries : applied studies at a pulp and board mill
Abstract : The potential to reduce energy demand in industrial applications is often substantiaL Since energy cost represents a considerable share of the value added in several categories of process industries, a great potential exists for cutting costs through investment, for instance in energy efficiency improvements. However, industrial energy systems form complex relations not only within the industrial unit, but also in the interaction with their surroundings. READ MORE

10. Data Prefetching Techniques Targeting Single and a Network of Processing Nodes
Abstract : This thesis considers two approaches to the design of high-performance computers. In a single processing node with one processor, performance is degraded when requested data is not found in the cache, because it has to be retrieved from slower memory. READ MORE
